Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 10

Ivy fell silent.

She knew that Gemma was an exceptionally gifted writer.

From elementary through high school, she always ranked first in her English classes.

The essays she wrote regularly made it into national publications.

Perhaps her sister really did just want the laptop to write.

Not wanting to stifle Gemma's passion, Ivy remembered the money Mr. Foster had just transferred to her. She swallowed her pride, accepted the funds, and asked,

"How much do you need?"

Gemma hesitated for a moment before replying softly, "A good one is around eight hundred dollars. If you don't have that much, I can get a second-hand one for about three hundred."

Ivy replied, "I'll give you eight hundred. But you have to promise not to let it ruin your studies, or I'll be really mad."

Overjoyed, Gemma immediately promised.

"Don't worry, Ivy. I won't let you down."

Ivy knew both of her sisters were obedient.

They wouldn't just throw money away.

After hanging up, she transferred eight hundred dollars to Gemma.

Remembering Hazel mentioning she was out of living expenses, she realized that fifty dollars probably wouldn't even last her a week.

Ivy still had a little left over, so she sent another hundred dollars to Hazel.

After dropping Stella off at St. Jude's Preschool and boarding the subway to the hospital,

Ivy looked at the pitifully low balance on her phone, her face etched with worry.

She had given all her money to her sisters. How was she supposed to pay for her driver's license now?

If she couldn't get her license, Mr. Foster would undoubtedly assume she had squandered his money again.

Recalling the other wealthy benefactor waiting for her at the hospital, Ivy rushed in, threw on her white coat, and hurried to change Ethan's dressing and start his IV.

Once finished, she looked at him sheepishly and asked tentatively,

"Have you had breakfast yet? Do you need me to grab something for you?"

Ethan pulled out his phone and transferred fifty dollars to her.

"Sure. I'll send you the money. Keep whatever is left over as a tip."

As he spoke, he continued sending money.

"I'll send you the money for lunch and dinner, too. Just get me whatever you think is best."

and she had taken money from Mr. Foster this morning, and now Ethan, what would they think of her if they ever found out?

Would they think she was some kind of scammer specifically targeting them for their wealth?

Ethan stared at her, his face as bright as a spring breeze.

"Him? That's my uncle. He's terrifying. If you ever run into him again, you should steer clear."

"Okay."

Ivy nodded and walked away, utterly unable to believe that the man she had just married was her ex-boyfriend's roommate's uncle.

Mr. Foster and Ethan were actually uncle and nephew.

Didn't that make her Ethan's aunt?

Ivy felt like her brain was melting from the sheer absurdity of the connection.

She definitely couldn't secretly take any more of Ethan's money.

Otherwise, if Mr. Foster found out, he would surely think she had some sinister ulterior motive.

She was better off finding someone else to make extra cash from.

Ivy hurried back to her duties.
