Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 194

Unfortunately, Alaric had just arrived and heard those exact words loud and clear.

He stopped dead at the doorway, refusing to take another step inside.

His hands subconsciously balled into tight fists, his brow furrowed in deep displeasure.

Ethan continued asking, "If your husband is old and ugly, then what exactly do you see in him?"

Ivy ground her teeth. She didn't care if anyone called her a gold digger anymore. She gave him the brutal truth.

"He has money. Obviously, I married him for his money. What else could I possibly see in him?"

Alaric froze at the door, his expression darkening into thunder, his knuckles turning white from how hard he was clenching his fists.

Ethan immediately perked up. "I have money too! However much you want, I can give it to you. Plus, I'm young, and I'm definitely not ugly, right?"

Ivy blinked, snapping out of her haze to look at Ethan.

Honestly, this young heir really was a great guy.

But she couldn't string him along or give him false hope.

Even if she did divorce Alaric, she was still technically his aunt by marriage. A relationship with Ethan was strictly off the table.

Ivy quickly shut it down.

"But I don't feel that way about you. Ethan, please stop saying things like this to me. Otherwise, I'm going to quit and never come back to this hospital."

Realizing he'd crossed a line, Ethan let out an awkward laugh and hurried to explain.

"Don't misunderstand, I was just joking around with you."

Ivy remained entirely serious. "That's not a funny joke. Get some rest. I'm going to get you some food."

She stood up and headed for the door.

Alaric had nowhere to hide. Retreating felt cowardly, so he braced himself and stepped into the room.

He collided right into Ivy.

Ivy gasped, her eyes going wide as saucers.

Oh god, when did he get here?

Was he standing at the door eavesdropping on her conversation with Ethan?

What did she just call him? Old and ugly?

She was screwed.

Absolutely no one could save her now.

Her heart leaped into her throat. Pretending she hadn't seen a thing, she ducked her head and practically sprinted away.
