Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 37

Ivy fell into a stunned silence.

Mr. Foster personally rushed her here and stayed by her side the entire night?

So he wasn't the cold-blooded monster she had imagined after all.

The sudden realization that her hospitalization meant abandoning Stella filled Ivy with sharp anxiety. She looked at Mrs. Gable and asked nervously.

"Mrs. Gable, since you're here, who is looking after Stella? Is she okay?"

Mrs. Gable let out a heavy sigh. "Stella has been absolutely miserable without you. Mr. Foster spent all morning trying to console her, but nothing worked, so he had no choice but to take her to the office with him."

It truly was bizarre.

Before Ivy had entered their lives, Stella was never this clingy or demanding.

But now that Ivy was around, the child acted as if she couldn't survive a single hour without her.

Mrs. Gable half-wondered if Ivy had managed to cast some sort of spell on the little girl.

"Mrs. Gable, please tell Mr. Foster not to worry. I'll focus on healing as quickly as humanly possible so I can get back to taking care of Stella."

Ivy forced the words out through her weakness.

She absolutely had to recover fast.

Otherwise, Mr. Foster would undoubtedly terminate their marriage contract and throw her out on the street.

If that happened, she wouldn't just lose her $20,000 monthly allowance; she would lose the incredibly comfortable sanctuary she currently lived in.

Plus, for reasons she couldn't quite explain, having Mr. Foster around gave her an unshakeable sense of security.

It was as if his mere presence guaranteed that absolutely no one in the world could ever bully her.

"Alright, I'll be sure to pass that along to him."

Seeing that there was a dedicated private nurse on duty.

And knowing Mr. Foster had only instructed her to deliver the overnight bag, not play bedside caretaker.

Mrs. Gable didn't linger at the hospital for long before heading back.

Later that afternoon.

Alaric returned to The Starlight Estate after work, bringing Stella with him.

Knowing Mrs. Gable had visited the hospital, he casually threw out a question. "How is Ivy holding up?"

Mrs. Gable hurried over with her report.

Alaric pushed further.

"Did she tell you she wanted to be your mommy?"

Stella continued shaking her head frantically. "No! I'm the one who wants her to be my mommy! When she takes me out to play, she won't even let me call her Mommy in public."

Alaric fell into a stunned, profound silence.

If Ivy wasn't coaching her...

Why on earth was his daughter so fiercely devoted to this woman?

Turning his gaze to the housekeeper, Alaric issued a sudden command. "Go prepare a highly nutritious meal suitable for Ivy's condition."

Mrs. Gable nodded respectfully and hurried off to the kitchen.

Later that evening, armed with the gourmet meal and carrying Stella, Alaric personally made the trip to the hospital.

To ensure absolutely no one discovered his marriage to Ivy.

Alaric had explicitly ordered the hospital director to transfer Ivy into a highly restricted, completely isolated VIP suite, assigning only a select few elite specialists to handle her case.

Because of this extreme level of secrecy, even though Ivy worked at Metropolitan General, not a single one of her colleagues had any idea she had been hospitalized.
