Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 6

"But Alaric, don't you think she's gorgeous? If she wanted to date me, I wouldn't mind getting scammed a little. Our family has money to burn anyway."

Alaric's face darkened, and he threw down a terrifyingly stern command.

"Heal up and get the hell out of the country."

After work, Ivy rushed non-stop to catch the subway back to The Starlight Estate.

The Starlight Estate was Alaric's villa.

Mrs. Gable had told her that Alaric had built this estate specifically for his daughter, naming it after her.

Stella's formal name was Stella Foster.

Ivy thought Mr. Foster must love his daughter very much.

Considering how busy Mr. Foster was with work, he probably didn't have much time to help Stella with her studies.

So, as soon as Ivy got home, she grabbed some books and started teaching Stella how to read and write.

Having spent all day learning at school, Stella wasn't in the mood for more studying. She turned to Ivy and pleaded,

"Mommy, can we go outside and play?"

Ivy didn't want to force the child to do things she hated, so she nodded in agreement.

"Okay."

Remembering Mr. Foster's earlier warning, she pulled Stella close and patiently explained,

"Stella, when we're outside, don't call me Mommy. Let's only use that name when we're at home, okay?"

If the child called her that in public.

And people found out about her relationship with Mr. Foster, he would be furious.

She couldn't afford to anger her golden goose right now.

"But why? You're my mommy now. Why can't I call you Mommy?"

Stella didn't quite understand. Her bright, gem-like eyes blinked up at Ivy in confusion.

Ivy took the time to explain everything carefully.

The little one only half-understood, but eventually agreed to call her Ivy when they were outside, and not Mommy.

The two stepped out of the villa, strolling through the neighborhood gardens and playing on the slides.

They chased each other, laughing and playing.

Ivy had never felt so relaxed and happy.

Amid the fun, she completely missed the fact that Alaric was watching them from a sleek sedan parked not far away.

Ivy didn't feel right stopping her.

After all, this wasn't her biological daughter.

If she was too strict, the child might end up disliking her.

Given how familiar the little girl was with getting ice cream, she must eat it often, so it probably wouldn't cause any stomach issues. Ivy let it slide.

Who knew the first cone Stella made was for her? The girl said sweetly,

"Ivy, try it. It's super yummy!"

Ivy couldn't refuse. She took out her phone, scanned the code, and paid.

They walked home together, each enjoying their ice cream.

Right at the front door, Stella stopped Ivy, giggling,

"Ivy, let's finish it before going in. We can't let Daddy see. Daddy will be mad if he finds out."

Ivy understood the drill. She finished her treat with the child at the door before heading inside.

To her surprise, Mr. Foster was already home.

Ivy walked over, holding Stella's hand, still feeling a bit tense. "You're back, Mr. Foster."
