Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 8

"Okay."

Ivy left the room and quickly pulled out her phone to call her head nurse, hoping to ask for an effective way to relieve the child's pain.

However, before she could even dial the number, she saw the doctor arriving with a medical kit.

It was a strikingly young and beautiful woman.

The woman spotted her and blatantly looked her up and down.

Without a word, she confidently strode into the room as if she owned the place.

Ivy put away her phone and stood quietly by the door, waiting.

A moment later, she overheard the female doctor questioning Mr. Foster.

"Who's that young girl out there? What is she doing here?"

Alaric explained,

"She saved Stella from drowning recently. Since Stella likes her, I asked her to stay and keep Stella company."

Dr. Elena Sinclair nodded in understanding. She put away her syringe and reached out to gently stroke the child's head.

"Stella, you can't be so greedy next time. No eating random things, okay?"

The exhausted little girl, having cried out all her pain, nestled in her father's arms. With tear tracks staining her cheeks, she gave a pitiful nod.

Dr. Sinclair didn't stay long. She tossed out some final instructions,

"I have surgery later, so I'm heading out. Call me if there are any other issues."

Ivy had been standing by the door the entire time.

She had heard exactly how Mr. Foster explained her presence to the doctor.

She was nothing more than a nanny hired to keep Stella company.

That was fine by her.

When the doctor walked out, Ivy gave a polite nod.

Dr. Sinclair stared at her a few more times but left with her medical kit without saying a word.

Ivy lifted her head, waiting until the doctor was far away before turning to enter the room.

She saw that Stella had stopped crying and was dozing off against her father's chest.

Still feeling immensely guilty, Ivy softly said to Alaric,

Considering she needed money and a place to hide from her parents.

She was more than willing to stay here, even if it meant being treated as just a nanny.

Alaric knew what happened today wasn't intentional.

After all, she had only just moved in.

He simply wanted to give her a clear warning. His daughter was the apple of his eye, and she needed to treat her with the utmost care.

Otherwise, the position of Mrs. Foster could be revoked at any time.

"Go keep Stella company."

Alaric ordered.

Ivy nodded and withdrew. Her cautious and deferential demeanor was truly indistinguishable from that of a hired nanny.

But in Alaric's eyes, this was just another performance for cash.

He certainly wouldn't soften his stance on her.

Even if Ethan was right about her being pretty, he would absolutely never harbor any feelings for her.
