Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1154

In stark contrast to Lillian's booming success, the Mercer family was stuck in a relentless downward spiral. Their business was an absolute disaster. Currently, they clung to two desperate lifelines. The first was the hope that Bella could fast-track the launch of their new product.

If the new product hit the market, it might alleviate some of their immediate hemorrhaging.

The second, and ultimately more vital, lifeline was Lillian herself.

Now that the truth of the past had come to light, they owed her a massive apology. Yet, to this day, Bella and her mother hadn't made a single move to make amends.

Brandon and Martin Mercer had entirely run out of patience.

"Dad, didn't you say you had a plan? It's been days. When exactly are we going to fix things with Lillian? You know how bad things are at the company. We're bleeding out. If we don't get the good news that she's coming back soon, aren't you worried the Mercer Group is going to go bankrupt?"

Brandon hated having this conversation at the estate, so he stood rigidly in Martin's corporate office.

Martin's face fell into a deep scowl. "What are you panicking for? Can you rush something like this? Relax. I said I had a plan, and I do. Clear your schedule this weekend and get your brother. We're going out to dinner, and you'll get to see your sister."

A jolt of undeniable excitement hit Brandon.

"You actually got in touch with her? She agreed to have dinner with us? What did you do to convince her?"

Brandon knew perfectly well that Lillian's deepest resentment stemmed from the vile things their father had done.

As he walked out, he practically bumped into Bella, who was passing by the chairman's office with a stack of documents.

"What's got you smiling?" Bella asked casually.

Brandon glanced at the files, snatched them from her hands, and scribbled his signature across the top. "Good news, obviously. By the way, Bella, you've been waiting until everyone else goes to sleep to come home lately. Don't tell me you're actually working late."

Bella snatched the signed documents back. "I'm sure the CEO can look into my hours if he's that suspicious. My project is at a critical stage right now. Who do you think I'm working overtime for? The Mercer family. You got a problem with my work ethic?"

"Not at all, dear sister," Brandon sneered. "On behalf of the company, thank you for your service. But maybe you should find some time in your busy schedule to handle the mess at home. Your mother is being awfully stubborn, isn't she? Digging her heels in. How many days has it been? She says she's willing to apologize, but she refuses to hand back a single cent of the shares. Tell me, how thick is the skin on you two? You took Lillian's room. You usurped her place in this family. You stole her equity. And now, even after being exposed for the frauds you are, you'd rather choke than cough up the shares to apologize to her.
