What, are you planning to take those stolen shares to the grave?"
Brandon had completely stopped caring about professional decorum. His words were venomous, designed to cut as deeply as possible.
Employees walking past quickly averted their eyes and scurried away, terrified of being caught eavesdropping.
Bella's face darkened drastically. She lowered her voice into a furious hiss. "We are standing in the middle of the Mercer Group headquarters. Employees are walking by. Are you intentionally trying to broadcast that the Mercer family is tearing itself apart from the inside? Do you think this is appropriate, Brandon?"
Brandon looked entirely unbothered, a mocking smirk plastered on his face. "Who was the one begging to squeeze her way into the Mercer family in the first place? When this family was actually family, there was no internal conflict. If you hadn't moved into our home—if you hadn't hurt Grandma and schemed your way through our doors—do you think the family would be in this state? Do you think the company would be collapsing? It's all because of you. If it wasn't for you, the Mercers would be the top family in Northwyn by now. We're only in this nightmare because of you two parasites. How can you be so incredibly toxic, Bella..."
Before Brandon could finish his tirade, the sharp ring of Bella's phone sliced through the tension.
Bella shot him a venomous glare and pulled her phone from her pocket. It was an unknown landline number.
She meant to reject the call, but her thumb slipped, swiping to answer instead.
Just as she was about to hang up, a frantic, high-pitched voice burst through the speaker. "Auntie Bella..."
The familiar voice sent a sudden jolt through her.
She hadn't heard that voice in ages.
Ever since Old Mr. and Mrs. Blake had returned, she had been completely cut off from Noah.
She fired off a barrage of questions. Before she could finish, Noah's anxious voice tumbled through the line.
"Auntie Bella, I'm in Northwyn. I'm home! Dad brought me back. I miss you so much. Can you come see me? I'm trapped in the house, and I miss you. Dad just dumped me here and left. He even made me write an eight-hundred-word apology. Can you please talk to him for me? You know I hate writing essays. Please, Auntie Bella? Dad listens to you more than anyone. Won't you beg him for me?"
Bella's eyes lit up with predatory excitement.
Did this mean he hadn't heard a single piece of news while he was abroad?
He clearly had no idea that she had essentially forced Sebastian into a sham marriage, nor that they were currently wrapped up in a vicious divorce battle.
Which meant he had no idea about Lillian's true identity either.
