He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 103

Juniper wasn't an idiot. The moment Audrey lunged at her again, she simply leaned on her crutch and sidestepped.

Carried by her own momentum, Audrey tumbled right down the stairs. She hit the pavement hard, gasping in pain. "You bitch!"

But no matter what she screamed, Juniper couldn't hear a single word.

Juniper checked her ride-hailing app, waiting for her car to arrive.

Yorke didn't even bother checking on Audrey, despite the fact that she was his girlfriend.

He stared at Juniper, his eyes brimming with predatory interest. "Juniper, remember me? Yorke Chambers."

He used to be a big spender in college. The day he drove a Bentley onto campus, he became instantly famous.

He reached out to grab Juniper's chin, but before his fingers could even make contact, she slapped his hand away. "What are you doing?!"

That was exactly the fiery attitude he remembered.

Yorke realized he still loved this exact flavor. Just looking at her was a thrill.

"Waiting for a ride? Let me take you home."

Juniper glared at him warily. Her ordered car pulled up right at that moment, stopping at the bottom of the steps.

She tried to limp down using her crutch, but Yorke snatched it from her grasp in a flash.

He tossed the crutch aside. Watching her balance precariously on one leg, his lips curled into a smirk as he slowly stepped closer. "How'd you hurt your leg?"

Seeing him act like a lovesick fool made Audrey's blood boil. She scrambled up the steps and lunged to slap Juniper.

"Why are you always seducing men!"

She had been with Yorke for years, yet he had never mentioned marriage. Seeing him eagerly throw himself at Juniper the moment they crossed paths filled her with a venomous hatred.

With her injured leg and Yorke gripping her shoulder, Juniper couldn't dodge. The slap landed squarely on her cheek.

Her head jerked to the side, a burning sting spreading across her skin.

Yorke frowned sharply at Audrey. "What the hell are you doing?"

Audrey was blinded by rage. "I should be asking you that! What are you doing?!"

He glanced at the red handprint blooming on Juniper's pale cheek and sneered. "Fine. We're done. Get out of my face."

Audrey stared at him in disbelief, her eyes instantly welling with tears. She lunged forward, desperately trying to attack Juniper again, but Yorke ruthlessly kicked her squarely in the stomach.

She rolled down the stairs once more, clutching her abdomen as large teardrops streamed down her face.
