He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 114

The lawyer stood to the side, briefcase in hand. He looked like the epitome of corporate elite. Hearing her outburst, he simply replied in a calm tone, "Repeated online harassment, inciting a cyber mob, and severely disrupting public safety—that carries a maximum sentence of ten years. Ms. Vance, I will do everything in my power to ensure you spend a decade behind bars."

He spoke without a shred of emotion. Audrey's frantic threats meant as little to him as a breeze brushing past his fingertips.

The words clamped around Audrey's throat, turning her face a deep, suffocating red.

The lawyer added, "The public has spontaneously donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to you. Ms. Vance, you've just added fraud to your list of criminal charges. My client is bypassing the standard police mediation process and going straight to court. You'll receive your summons very soon."

Audrey's rationality snapped back into place. It felt like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over her head. She suddenly realized where she had seen this elite face before.

She swallowed hard, though she tried to keep her chin up. "Stop trying to scare me. Juniper is public enemy number one right now. If you stand by her, the internet will drown you in spit. I refuse to believe you can help her bounce back from this! I'm telling you, it's not too late to let me go."

As she spoke, her posture grew arrogant once again.

Someone had tipped her off earlier, claiming the hospital's security footage had been completely scrubbed. Supposedly, there wasn't a single unedited video left anywhere, only the chopped-up clip she held. So, she figured these people were definitely bluffing.

The lawyer couldn't be bothered to waste another breath on her and simply walked over to confer with the officers.

Meanwhile, the internet was practically combusting.

"Justice! She called the cops and now they're at the station. Juniper is definitely getting locked up!"

"Someone leak the police station address! I'm bringing rotten eggs for Juniper!"

"I'm going to slash her face! Let's see if she ever tries to steal another man!"

The mob was rabid, gleefully venting their malice online.

Even the nurses at the hospital were whispering about it.

While changing a patient's dressing, Yara Jenkins heard the woman gossip, "Homewreckers have absolutely no shame these days. They just spread their legs and get whatever they want. The poor girlfriend is the real victim here; she even lost her baby."
