The hatred the internet felt for Juniper was matched only by the hatred Yara felt for Nelson Saint.
Normally calm and unbothered, Yara practically gnashed her teeth at the mere mention of that scumbag.
Her colleagues knew Yara wasn't one to start drama or spread baseless gossip. In her free time, she mostly just kept her nose in a book.
They quickly huddled closer. "Seriously? Then why did that alumni post say all those things?"
"Because his family is incredibly powerful. Extremely powerful. How could a girl from a rural village ever go up against someone like that? She was too foolish, and she just wanted to be loved..."
She paused, checking the time. It was time to apply medication to the patients in her new ward.
She stood up as her two coworkers sighed. "If that's the real story, that is beyond tragic. I heard she didn't even get her degree. To go from a rural village to Capital University takes an insane amount of hard work, and she lost it all over some guy."
Yara tuned out the rest of the conversation. As she walked into her new ward, a fire still burned in her chest. Everywhere she went, people were gossiping about Juniper, and Audrey's abruptly ended livestream had only fanned the flames of speculation.
Yara walked into Harrison Holt's room. It was a double-occupancy room, and currently, a blond guy was lounging on the other bed.
The guy had overheard the screaming match outside and now realized Yara was the Capital University grad.
Capital University. That meant she was elite.
He ran a hand through his dyed hair and pulled down his pants. "I heard you defending that homewrecker, Juniper?"
Yara needed to apply ointment to the man's inner thigh, which genuinely required him to lower his pants.
This wasn't her first time doing this, and she always had to swallow her revulsion.
The man intentionally brushed his leg against her hand. "Not talking, huh? Are you just as desperate for a man as Juniper? Honestly, I've never hooked up with an Ivy-league grad before. Why don't you see what I'm working with? Damn, your hands are soft."
Yara fought the overwhelming urge to slap him. She quickly finished applying the medicine and tried to step back, but the man grabbed her hand and shoved it forcefully against his leg.
"Let go!"
The next second, a fist slammed into the man's face, sending him tumbling out of the bed and crashing onto the floor.
Harrison, wearing a faded, well-washed shirt, rained merciless blows onto the blond man's face.
Even with bandages still wrapped around his eyes, Harrison's punches were lethal.
