He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 118

Julian propped his chin on his hand, looking fully ready to gossip. "The internet is tearing her apart right now. Hey, I heard Juniper's family doesn't have money. Not having a college degree must be really dragging her down, huh?"

Truthfully, neither of them paid much attention to the specifics of the online hate, they just knew she was being crucified, and it was all because of Audrey.

Nelson pinched his cigarette, his eyes slightly bloodshot. "Who's to blame for that?"

She used to skip class constantly because of her mother, Beatrice. Didn't she deserve to be expelled?

He pressed his lips together and aggressively tossed the cigarette into the trash can.

Julian let out a laugh. "Do you realize what you look like right now? The word 'jealousy' is basically stamped across your forehead. I didn't think there was a single person in this world capable of making Nelson Saint jealous."

Nelson had everything. Who could he possibly envy?

When Nelson didn't respond, Julian sighed. "If you actually care about her, just fix the problem. You could make this go away with the snap of your fingers. No normal person can handle being cyberbullied like this."

"There's no rush."

Nelson turned to look out the window. "She needs to learn her lesson."

Julian didn't bother trying to persuade him. He could see that when it came to Juniper, Nelson was inexplicably petty.

And yet, simultaneously, entirely consumed by her.

Julian looked away, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "Suit yourself. Keep acting like this and you'll end up pushing her away for good."

Juniper didn't dare eat the hotel's breakfast. Even when they sent up a fresh tray, she left it untouched.

Instead, she put on her hat and mask, went down to the lobby, and bought some pre-packaged pastries.

She was feeling slightly faint from hunger, so she tore open the plastic wrapper and quietly took a few bites.

She hadn't brought her cane down with her this time, choosing instead to slowly lean against the wall as she walked, hoping to avoid being recognized.

But as soon as she turned the corner into the corridor, she ran straight into Lydia.

Lydia was impeccably dressed, a Birkin bag hanging from her arm. She looked every inch the wealthy socialite.

She was surrounded by a few other women, all laughing and chatting, but the moment they saw Juniper, the conversation stopped dead.
