"Cecilia, my business has absolutely nothing to do with you."
Cecilia disliked Nelson, and Nelson felt the exact same way about her. Their relationship had always been nothing more than surface-level pleasantries.
Cecilia glared at him and turned away coldly. "I will not tolerate some low-class nobody walking all over my own daughter. So keep the women you keep outside in line. No matter who she is, making Felicity feel wronged is her fault."
Felicity was her only daughter.
It wasn't that she hadn't wanted a second child, but at forty-two, after countless grueling rounds of IVF, her body could barely handle it anymore, especially while juggling her career.
Over the years, Cecilia had been physically and mentally drained by the process, but she absolutely needed a son.
Nelson scoffed. "Don't worry, I'll keep Juniper in check. But as family, let me give you a piece of advice. Doing IVF at your age and popping all those supplements is ruining your health. The Saints don't need a son to maintain our status, and your husband is a lost cause anyway. He's had all these years and still hasn't amounted to anything. You'd be better off making backup plans."
The sheer disrespect of his words made Cecilia's head spin. She stormed forward, raising a hand to slap Nelson, but he caught her wrist mid-air.
Nelson's eyes were freezing. "Not just anyone gets to slap my face."
Did she really think she was Juniper?
He shook off her hand. "Thanks for visiting."
It was an unmistakable order to leave.
Cecilia pressed her lips together, her chest heaving violently before she turned on her heel and marched out.
Nelson's tongue spared no one; his words always knew exactly where to cut deepest.
He got out of bed, threw on his clothes, and grabbed his jacket, ready to leave.
It was already nine at night, and he had no intention of sleeping in the hospital.
Quinn Fletcher had been waiting by the door and hurried to catch up. "Boss, are we heading home?"
Nelson's hospitalization had thrown the entire Saint household into chaos today.
Nelson got into the car, thoroughly annoyed. "Take me to Grandmother's."
But the car had barely moved a few hundred feet when Josie Saint called, her sweet voice ringing through the speaker. "Daddy, are you feeling better?"
A faint smile touched Nelson's lips. "Yeah. Are you still awake?"
