He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 132

Feeling somewhat regretful, she asked, "Are you staying for dinner later?"

Nelson smiled. "Sure."

But the smile didn't reach his eyes.

After chatting with Alistair for several dozen minutes, Juniper started to feel a bit sleepy.

She hadn't slept a wink last night, and there were faint dark circles under her eyes.

Alistair noticed and said softly, "Go get some sleep. I'll go chat with the old lady for a bit."

Juniper stood up. "Yeah, I'm going to sleep for a couple of hours."

He stepped forward to help her, but she declined his offer.

Grabbing her crutch, she slowly made her way upstairs.

As she entered the room and turned to shut the door, a strong hand forced its way through the crack.

Startled, she stumbled back several steps, only to watch Nelson squeeze his way in and forcefully slam the door shut.

Pressing her back against the wall, Juniper noticed his aura had shifted again—it was dark, heavy, and his gaze was predatory.

"What are you doing?"

She gripped her crutch tightly.

Nelson slowly approached, planting one hand on the wall beside her. "Are you really planning to find a replacement?"

His tone carried a mix of mockery and malicious teasing.

Pinned against the wall, Juniper maintained a calm look in her eyes. "That's none of your business, Nelson. Please get out."

Nelson stood unmoving, watching the two clusters of fire in her eyes. Wasn't she just having a delightful chat with Alistair?

Yet she was glaring at him with pure hostility.

He found it hilarious, though he smiled through gritted teeth. Hooking an arm around her waist, he pulled her close. "The trending topics online haven't been taken down yet. The police called you earlier, saying they could retrieve the security footage near the hospital, but they haven't contacted you since. Care to guess if that footage still exists?"

It was a blatant threat. The Saint family held shares in that hospital, making it incredibly easy for Nelson to pull strings.

Juniper's expression instantly changed, her lips pressing into a thin line.
