He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 76

Zara straightened her back, her tone cool. "My future mother-in-law did instruct me to get rid of my cheaper pieces. She doesn't want anyone looking down on the Sterling family when I go out."

She was marrying their youngest son, after all. She had to keep up appearances.

Juniper frowned. Julian Sterling?

She discreetly pulled out her phone to run a search. The results were flooded with Julian's tabloid scandals. She quietly put her phone away.

Zara looked like a completely rational powerhouse, radiating an icy demeanor. She and Julian seemed like total opposites in every possible way. How did those two end up together?

Was she really going to marry Julian?

Zara looked back at Juniper, finally asking the question on her mind. "I've been meaning to ask since I got here. Have we met before?"

"I probably just have a familiar face."

Her response made Zara chuckle. "I doubt that. I like your look. It's very harmless."

Juniper felt a little shy. "Thank you."

Zara pulled out a business card. "Give me your address. I'm busy with wedding preparations right now, so I don't have time to wait for a face-to-face appraisal. I'll mail the pieces to you later. Add my number, and we can discuss the details over text. But I still stand by my limit—I'm only taking a thirty percent hit."

"Understood, Ms. Zimmer. I'll keep that in mind."

Juniper pulled out her phone and scanned Zara's contact code, adding her right then and there.

The two women then moved on to business matters, and Juniper sat quietly, listening.

After a long while, Zara stood up. "Juniper, my car is in the underground garage. You can walk out with me; I'll give you a ride."

Juniper didn't act coy. She offered a gracious smile, her eyes curving. "Sure. Thank you, Ms. Zimmer."

A rare smile broke through Zara's icy expression, but Zoe pulled her back, saying there was one last detail to go over.

Zara tilted her chin toward Juniper, exuding executive authority. "Go wait for me in Section B on the lower level."

Juniper found the elevator down to the garage. But the second she stepped into the underground lot, she spotted Nelson walking out of the elevator just a few feet away.
