Stella stared at him in utter disbelief.

"What gave you the right to discuss my business, let alone make decisions for me?"

Stella let out a sharp, bitter laugh. "I'll say it one last time: if you want her at that expo so badly, go buy her a spot yourself. Stop trying to steal mine!"

George had clearly resolved not to lose his temper today. He actually tried to sound soothing. "SD Apparel doesn't even have any groundbreaking new designs. You're not going to pull any major orders anyway. Seraphina's streetwear brand is very trendy. Just treat it as showcasing a diverse range of styles for the company."

"I promise you, if you just agree to share the space with her, I'll still give you all the compensation I offered before!"

While the idea of forcing George to bankroll brand-new machinery was incredibly tempting, Stella knew better. Nothing was ever that simple with him.

If she yielded an inch, Seraphina would take a mile. She would undoubtedly use George's leverage to completely hijack the booth.

Stella refused to bleed herself dry just to hand Seraphina a golden opportunity on a silver platter. And she certainly wasn't going to subject herself to sharing a confined space with her for three days.

She rejected him again, absolute and unyielding.

Shockingly, George didn't explode into a screaming fit.

He just let out a heavy, disappointed sigh. "Stella, why do you have to be so ridiculously stubborn? Seraphina is your sister. Would it really kill you to do her a small favor? Especially when I'm offering to pay you for it?"

Stella looked at him with dead eyes. "My mother only had one daughter. I have a brother, but I certainly do not have a sister. And quite frankly, your promises mean absolutely nothing to me."

The last time he promised to drive her grandmother to the hospital, he had abandoned them the second Seraphina wanted to go shopping.

George instantly knew exactly what incident she was referring to. His face flushed a dark, angry red. Realizing that pushing the issue would only end in a screaming match, he spat out, "Don't come crying to me later," and stormed out of the cafe.

Stella watched his retreating back, taking a sip of her Americano. The bitter taste coated her throat and settled heavily in her chest.

For a split second, she had actually believed he wanted to meet to check on her after the factory disaster. But no. It was all about Seraphina.
