Her injuries made things difficult, but that did not mean she wanted Felix helping her with something so private.
Seeing her discomfort, Felix smiled.
“Why would you need an aide when I’m here?”
“You…”
Stella’s temper flared.
“All right, all right. The aide will be here soon. For now, let me carry you.”
He stopped teasing her and carried her into the bathroom.
Felix knew he could not push Stella too hard right now.
She no longer trusted him at all.
If he rushed things, he would only make her hate him more.
By the time he carried her back to bed, the female aide had arrived.
Felix peeled an apple, cut it into small pieces, and offered one to her.
“I don’t like apples,” Stella said.
Felix paused.
“You don’t?”
“You should still eat some fruit.”
“I really don’t like them.”
She disliked the cold, crisp feeling.
Especially now, while she was lying in a hospital surrounded by the smell of antiseptic.
She barely had an appetite for meals, much less anything else.
“All right. You don’t have to eat it.”
He did not force her.
But before long, the room was filled with all kinds of fruit.
The apples were gone.
That was how Felix was.
The moment Stella said she disliked something, he made sure it disappeared from her sight.
“You can tell me what you do like now,” he said.
And this time, he would remember.
He had never had enough chances to learn the little things about her before.
Now, this time alone with her felt precious.
Stella did not answer.
She simply stared at him.
“What is it?” Felix asked.
