Chapter 1083
Evan’s head was pounding.
He genuinely wished he could sew Amos’s mouth shut.
But Amos kept going.
“The way you’re panicking now looks completely hypocritical to me.”
Evan went still.
The word hypocritical tightened painfully around his heart.
Amos thought he was a hypocrite.
Then what did Stella think of him?
She must have thought the same.
Every time he lost her, he suddenly remembered how desperately he wanted her back.
How could Stella see that as anything but hypocrisy?
The pressure in Evan’s chest grew heavier.
“You’re right. In her eyes, I’m nothing but a hypocrite. She’ll never forgive me.”
What had happened in Harbor City had already made forgiveness impossible.
And now this had happened too.
“You’ve probably lost her for good this time,” Amos said. “Even if you bring her back, her heart won’t belong to you.”
He paused before adding mercilessly, “That’s assuming she survives Silas long enough for you to find her.”
Amos knew exactly where to strike.
Every word drove deeper into Evan’s heart.
Before Evan could respond, Amos continued.
“And the chances of that are slim.”
“Silas hasn’t contacted you with any demands. I doubt Aaron has heard from him either.”
If Aaron had received a call from Silas, he would not have taken this long to realize what had happened.
That meant Silas had no intention of using Stella to demand money, power, or anything else from them.
The most dangerous enemy was one who wanted nothing.
Evan’s expression darkened further.
“Has Stella contacted Ivy at all?” he asked.
He was clinging to the last sliver of hope he had left.
Stella and Ivy had gotten along well while she was in Seaborne.
