My CEO HUSBAND sign the divorce novel Chapter 318

Chapter 318: Fear

Her eyes gradually softened.

Without another word, she stepped forward and wrapped me in a tight hug.

"We still have so much to talk about," she murmured.

"You still have to tell me where you’ve been these past two years..."

"And everything that happened."

I smiled.

"I will."

"Next time, bring Ariana with you."

She laughed.

"I definitely will."

After pulling away, she picked up her shopping bags before we headed toward the counter together.

Only to discover that the bill had already been settled.

Sophie glanced at me with a knowing, exaggerated look, and i couldn’t help laughing.

Together, we walked outside while the security officers followed a respectful distance behind us, attracting curious glances from almost everyone we passed.

When we stepped outside, Alexander and Aimy were already waiting beside the car.

Between his security convoy and the one Maria had arranged for me, the entire area was lined with luxury vehicles and men dressed in black.

Anyone passing by would probably mistake the scene for a government convoy.

Sophie waved before heading toward her own car.

Alexander walked over and opened the passenger door for Aimy and me before closing it gently once we were seated.

Only then did he walk around to the driver’s side.

A few moments later, the convoy slowly pulled away from the plaza.

After a short silence, I looked at him.

"Why didn’t you just call me after you arrived?"

He glanced at me briefly.

"Didn’t you like that I came inside?"

I shook my head.

"No."

"I just know how much you dislike crowded public places."

During the two years we were married, Alexander had rarely appeared anywhere unless it was absolutely necessary.

Even simple dates had been almost impossible.

He studied me quietly for a moment.

Then, with Aimy sitting between us, he reached across and gently took my hand.

He couldn’t move any closer because of her.

So he simply intertwined our fingers.

"If there’s somewhere you want to go..."

"I’ll go with you."

"If there’s something you want to do..."

"Just tell me."

His thumb brushed lightly over the back of my hand.

"You don’t have to worry about things like that anymore."

A warmth spread quietly through my chest.

He must have understood exactly what I had been thinking.

But I didn’t want him carrying the weight of the past forever.

I gently squeezed his hand.

"Alright."

The corners of his lips lifted into the faintest smile.

He leaned back into his seat with a quiet breath.

Even then...

He never let go of my hand.....

Almost an hour later, we arrived back at the estate, and the convoy came to a stop in front of the villa.

Alexander got out first before walking around to open the door for Aimy and me. After helping us out, he went to the trunk and took out our shopping bags while I carried Aimy, who had already fallen asleep in my arms, into the villa.

The moment we stepped inside, Maria hurried over, her expression filled with worry. However, the instant she saw Alexander walking in behind me, the tension on her face eased.

"Mrs. Alicia, you’re back," she said warmly.

Just then, two staff members stepped forward to take the shopping bags from Alexander, but he simply shook his head, silently dismissing them.

"Yes," I replied with a smile. "I ran into Sophie, and we decided to have lunch together."

"I see." Maria let out a relieved breath. "I was beginning to worry when you hadn’t returned."

Alexander turned to her.

"Maria, why didn’t you let me know before she went out?"

His voice was calm, but I noticed Maria stiffen slightly.

Before she could answer, I quickly spoke up.

"It was my fault."

Both of them turned to me.

"I asked Maria not to call you."

Alexander looked slightly taken aback.

"I wanted to go to the store myself, so I asked her to arrange a car for me," I explained.

He sighed softly.

"Don’t misunderstand me, Alicia. I was only worried about your safety."

His voice had become much gentler.

"I know."

I smiled reassuringly.

"I understand."

I adjusted Aimy slightly in my arms.

"I’ll take her upstairs."

Without waiting any longer, I headed toward the staircase. As I did, I caught the faint smile tugging at Maria’s lips while she watched us.

I heard Alexander’s footsteps following behind.

When we reached Aimy’s room, I carefully laid her on the bed. She hadn’t stirred once since falling asleep in the car.

Only after pulling the blanket over her did I turn around.

"No."

He shook his head gently.

"You must be tired."

"I’ll have them move everything."

I thought about it for a moment.

I really did want a little time to myself.

So I nodded.

"Alright."

"I’ll stay here for now."

He continued watching me for another moment, almost as though he was making sure I truly meant it.

When he found no hesitation on my face, he stepped forward again.

This time, he rested his forehead against the side of my neck before wrapping me in another tight embrace.

Unlike before...

this hug felt different.

It wasn’t playful.

Nor was it driven by longing.

It felt like relief.

I hesitated for only a second before slowly wrapping my arms around his waist as well.

We remained like that in comfortable silence.

After a while, he reluctantly pulled away.

His hand rose to cup my cheek before he leaned down and captured my lips in a slow, lingering kiss.

Warm.

Gentle.

Unhurried.

By the time we finally pulled apart, both of us were slightly out of breath.

He rested his forehead lightly against mine for a brief moment.

I smiled shyly before placing both hands against his chest and giving him a gentle push.

"You should go."

He chuckled softly before loosening his hold.

"I’ll be in the study if you need anything."

"Alright."

He stole one last quick kiss before finally walking toward the door.

Just before leaving, he glanced back at me once more.

Only after I smiled did he quietly close the door behind him.

I remained standing there for a few moments, staring at the closed door.

Without realizing it, a small smile had already found its way onto my lips.

Just then...

my phone suddenly rang from the bedside table, pulling me out of my thoughts.
