Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 142

A dead silence fell over the room.

Phoenix, Cyan, and even Meredith were left dumbfounded.

They had seen shameless people, but never someone this brazen.

He was clearly the culprit, yet he dared to swear a deadly oath on his own life. It proved the man was rotten to the core, completely devoid of bottom lines or faith.

To him, making a vow meant nothing. It only disgusted others while holding zero binding power over himself.

With red eyes, Marcus cried pitifully, "Dad, the most pressing matter right now is to get proper doctors to do a full-body checkup. That will naturally prove whether he was poisoned or if this quack is just spouting lies!"

Thaddeus pondered for a moment before finally nodding. "Alright..."

"Thaddeus! The one who poisoned him is Marcus!"

A sharp shout suddenly rang out as Milo Miller rushed in, looking travel-worn. He glared fiercely at Marcus on the floor. "I never imagined you'd be shameless enough to swear such an oath!"

"Milo, stop spewing garbage! I have a clear conscience!" Marcus stubbornly fought back, betting that Milo had no hard evidence.

"Oh, a clear conscience?" Milo sneered. He strode over to Thaddeus and handed him an inconspicuous porcelain bottle.

The moment he saw the bottle, Marcus's face turned pale. His pupils shrank as he lunged forward like a madman. "Give that to me!"

But Phoenix was faster. Moving like lightning, she delivered a vicious kick right to Marcus's chest.

"Ugh!"

Marcus let out a cry of pain as he crashed heavily into the wall. Ignoring the intense agony, he stared viciously at the bottle, his voice trembling. "How... how did you find that?"

"Scared?" Milo looked at him mockingly. "To tell you the truth, when I excused myself to get Meredith's flute, I actually went to search your room."

Turning to Thaddeus, he said firmly, "This was found in a hidden compartment in Marcus's room. There's still half a bottle of poison left inside. We just need to send it to a lab for analysis, and the truth will come out!"

Thaddeus clutched the cold porcelain bottle, his knuckles turning white from the force.

As the head of the Miller family, he was no fool.

Even without a lab test, Marcus's desperate reaction just now made the truth crystal clear.

Watching Marcus being dragged out of the ward like a dead dog, Milo felt a rush of satisfaction, followed immediately by a deep chill and sorrow.

They were flesh and blood, so why was Marcus so ruthlessly cruel? Poisoning their grandfather wasn't enough; for his own selfish desires, he had even planned to let Meredith and the old man die on the operating table.

Before, he hadn't known about the poison and didn't think much of it. Now, it was terrifying to realize that the so-called kidney transplant to save his sister was just a cover. Murder was Marcus's true goal.

"The Azure Healer." Thaddeus took a deep breath, turning to Cyan with eyes full of respect. "I apologize for my previous slight. Please save my father. Once this is done, the Miller family will reward you handsomely."

Cyan casually tugged at the corner of his mouth, his gaze drifting past everyone to land on the trembling imposter in the corner.

"Mr. Miller's condition isn't urgent right now. First... it's time to settle the score with this 'healer' who stole my title."

"W-what are you going to do?!" The old man turned pale and backed away. "I admit I impersonated you, b-but I didn't do anything heinous!"

"Oh? Swindling people under my name doesn't count as heinous?"

Before he even finished speaking, Cyan's eyes turned icy. A cold gleam flashed from his fingertips, and a silver needle accurately pierced one of the old man's pressure points.

The old man abruptly stiffened. His eyes bulged in terror as he stared at Cyan. "What... what did you do to me?"
