Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 141

"Patriarch!"

Thaddeus Miller rushed forward, anxiously checking the elderly man's condition.

The old man's cloudy gaze lingered on Thaddeus's face for a moment before slowly sweeping over everyone in the room. His voice was dry and raspy. "Who... are you?"

"Dad, don't you recognize me?" Thaddeus frowned, his expression grave. "It's Thaddeus, your son."

"And me," Marcus Miller chimed in, stepping closer to tightly grasp the old man's hand with an urgent expression. "It's Marcus, your grandson. Don't you remember?"

Faced with their questions, the old man's confusion turned into terror. He abruptly snatched his hand back, shrinking away and staring at them warily. "I... I don't know you! My head... it hurts so much."

Seeing this, a flicker of undetectable ecstasy flashed deep in Marcus's eyes.

Amnesia? God was on his side! As long as the old man couldn't remember, didn't that mean he could spin the events of that time however he wanted?

Standing nearby, Meredith Miller was rooted to the spot, utterly stunned. "How could this happen? Why did he suddenly lose his memory?"

Suddenly, Thaddeus snapped his head around, shooting a razor-sharp glare at Cyan. "Speak! Why is he like this?" he demanded.

The furious shout snapped everyone back to reality, and all eyes instantly zeroed in on Cyan.

Cyan was the one who had revived him, yet now the old man had amnesia. It was hard not to suspect the treatment had gone wrong.

The old imposter immediately jumped out, pointing an accusing finger at Cyan. "You fake! He woke up because of the acupuncture I did earlier. It was those random needles you stuck in him afterward that messed up his brain!"

Julian Prescott seized the chance to kick them while they were down. "Phoenix Prescott, it's one thing for you to run wild at home, but this is the patriarch of the Miller family! Can you take responsibility for the medical malpractice caused by this person you brought?"

"Julian, I'm sure Miss Prescott didn't mean to," Phoebe Prescott sighed with mock sympathy, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "She was just too eager for success, wanting to prove herself, which is why..."

Cyan suddenly started clapping, a wicked smirk curving his lips. "Marcus, is there any chance... that the poisoner is you? This act of crying thief is a bit too clumsy."

As soon as he finished speaking, Thaddeus's gaze locked onto his son, full of scrutiny and suspicion.

"Dad! Don't listen to his slander!" Marcus panicked, defending himself desperately. "Everyone in the family knows how I've treated him all these years! Would you rather believe a shady outsider than your own son?"

Thaddeus frowned, remaining silent.

Marcus was indeed a suspect, but he had also dutifully stayed by the bedside all these years, even being named the heir because of it...

"Dad!"

Seeing his father's hesitation, Marcus suddenly collapsed to the floor, raising three fingers as he screamed hoarsely, "I swear to God! If I poisoned him, let me be struck by lightning and die a horrible death!"
