Chapter 249 The Mysterious Arm
Chapter 249 The Mysterious Arm
“Who provoked that monster” Keith was losing it too.
“I don’t know!” someone answered. “We were careful to stay away from it, so why did it come after us?”

“Where’s Matthew? Where the hell is he? If he’s standing by at a time like this, is he planning to turn on us?” Keith roared.
“No idea. I haven’t seen them in a while,” someone replied. “Maybe he realized something was wrong and ran.”
“That damn pretty boy! That freak! When I get out of here, I’m going to make him pay!” Keith was so furious he was barely thinking straight. “Get the explosives. There’s no way this thing can survive a blast.”
“We can’t! This place is already unstable. One explosion could bring the whole thing down on top of us,” someone protested.
“We can’t do this, we can’t do that. Then what the hell are we supposed to do?” Keith shouted.
As he spoke, another man was swept up by the flesh mold and devoured without a trace.
“Let’s run!” someone finally gave in. “This tomb is too bizarre. The creatures in here are beyond anything we understand!”
Keith’s face was filled with frustration.
I’ve come fully prepared. How did everything still go wrong?
Damn it!
But no matter how angry he was, it wouldn’t change anything. If more people died, he would lose his entire team.
“Fall back!” Keith cast one last resentful glance at the main burjal chamber before leading his men away.
Fortunately, the flesh mold truly was lazy. Once it had driven them out of its territory, it stopped pursuing them.
That was the only reason Keith and his men escaped with their lives.
Keith’s expression was grim.
He had seen and fought plenty of mutant animals and plants, but never anything this impossible to deal with.
What the hell was that thing?
Meanwhile, Matthew and his men were running for their lives.
Matthew laughed wildly as he ran.
“Hahaha! That idiot, Keith, is going to regret this!” Matthew was still struggling to catch his breath, but that didn’t stop him from gloating. “Did he really think I couldn’t see what he was after? That I was too busy chasing pretty boys to notice? If he wants to come after me, he’ll have to do a hell of a lot better than that. He thinks he can take me out and seize control? In his dreams.”
“Mr. York, are we lost?” One of the bodyguards grabbed Matthew and looked around warily. “This isn’t the route we planned.”
“Let me check the map.” Matthew pulled it out and compared it with their surroundings. “This route puts us closer to Asher’s group. Come on. Let’s catch up with them.”

“Yes, Sir!”
At that moment, Autumn’s group was facing a crisis-of its own.
They found the drone that had been knocked down
“This is ours,” someone said. “Judging by the damage, something must have reached up from the ground and swatted it out of the
air.”
‘Do you hear yourself? The drone was flying 16 feet above the ground. What kind of arm could be that long? If its arm alone was 16 ‘eet, the creature would have to be over thirty feet tall. But this chamber isn’t even 30 feet high. How would something that big nove around in here?” someone argued.
‘We’ve already seen flesh mold with a mind of its own. Is a monster with an impossibly long arm really that hard to believe?”
‘Fair point.”
Beckett listened to his men debate, separating the useful observations from the noise as he formed his own theory.
‘Have any of you considered that it might not be humanoid?” the expert, who had remained silent until now, suddenly asked. “The lesh mold may have influenced how we’re thinking. Because it had something resembling an arm, we assumed every other :reature must be humanoid too. What if the creature itself was the arm?”
What? What does that mean?” Even Autumn didn’t understand.
A snake, for example,” the expert said. “Snakes can leap. If one suddenly launched itself from the ground, its length, force, and ingle could have been enough to hit the drone.”
Understanding dawned on Autumn. “That makes sense.”
You’re saying a snake jumped from the ground and knocked down our drone?” Beckett understood as well. “Then those clusters of white eggs we saw in the footage…”
Snake eggs!” everyone shouted at once.
Shit. Run!” Autumn’s expression changed. “If every other animal has mutated, snakes have too. These narrow passages are >erfect for them. We can’t beat them here.”
Before she had even finished speaking, everyone turned and ran after her.
But they were already too late.
‘Hiss. Hiss.”
A snake blocked their path.
t was a two-headed snake, emerald green from head to tail and glowing faintly blue.
“What kind of snake is that?”
“No idea!”
“Is it mutated?”
