Truth or Lies?-2
“And now,” he said, his voice lowering but losing none of its intensity, “we will address the issue of
all those who were recently added to the Terror List, starting with Elora, the other daughter of Beta
Black, who was rejected, banished and left to die in the wild. We will find out the truth behind these
actions and if each punishment was correct or not.”
The crowd stood in stunned silence at Markus’s announcement. Whispers rippled through the
gathered pack members, their faces etched with confusion and disbelief. The Alpha and Beta
families, in particular, were visibly shaken, their expressions a mixture of anger and fear.
“What is this nonsense?” Alpha Alex finally found his voice, but he was immediately silenced by al
sharp, authoritative look from Markus.
Markus turned his gaze to ex-Alpha Ben, his eyes demanding an explanation. “Explain,” he
commanded.
Ex-Alpha Ben hesitated before stepping forward, his voice trembling slightly as he began, “Elora
betrayed the mate bond between her and Alex. She sided with and plotted with rogues against our
pack, so she gave me no choice.”
Markus raised an eyebrow, his expression one of mild curiosity. “I see,” he replied, his tone deceptively calm. “And was she the first to betray the mate bond?”
This question hung in the air, leaving everyone speechless. Ex-Alpha Ben stammered, “Your Majesty, I don’t understand…”
Markus cut him off, turning his attention directly to Alpha Alex. “Was Elora the first to betray the
mate bond between herself and Alex?” he repeated, his voice cold and demanding.
Alpha Alex faltered, his eyes darting nervously around the crowd. “She… she did it,” he stammered, struggling to find his words.
Markus’s instincts tingled, his ability to sense deception flaring. He looked at Alex with an ironic smile. “My witnesses say otherwise,” he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “They tell me that you have been sharing a bed with Alena for years, way before realizing that Elora was your mate, and that you continued even after you discovered that she was your fated.
Gasps echoed through the crowd; the shock palpable. Markus continued, his tone sharp and accusing. “Of course, I gathered evidence before coming here. You never know when someone might decide to lie,” he said, his sarcasm cutting through the air like a knife.
Alex’s face turned pale, his composure crumbling under the weight of the revelation. Beta Black’s anger morphed into shock, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at his daughter Alena, who

had betrayed her sister in such a fundamental way. He knew that they were together, but he had no idea that his daughter had slept with Alex at such a young age. He looked at his wife, but from the way that she avoided his look, he realized that she knew all along. This made his chest squeeze uncomfortably.
Markus continued, his voice steady and unyielding. “You have accused Elora of betrayal and siding with the rogues. Tell me more and what proof you had at that time.”
Ex-Alpha Ben took a deep breath and began recounting the series of events that led to Elora’s disgrace. “It started with the graduates’ trip,” he said, his voice heavy with the weight of the memories. “Elora met with rogues during that time. She broke her mate bond and plotted against our pack, planning its downfall.”
When he finished, Markus nodded, his expression inscrutable. “And what proof do you have?” he
asked.
Alpha Alex, his face red with anger, shouted, “I felt the betrayal through the mate bond! The pain
was unbearable.”
Markus nodded again, his gaze turning to Ex-Alpha Ben. “And how did you know that Elora allied herself with the rogues?”
Ex-Alpha Ben replied, “Alena and her best friend, Danielle, saw and heard her. There was no doubt of her guilt!”
Markus’s expression remained calm as he said, “I would like to hear personally from Luna Alena and Danielle.” The tension in the room thickened as everyone awaited their responses.
Alena, still weak, looked at Markus with hatred in her eyes. “This is a witch hunt,” she accused, her
voice trembling with rage. “You’re doing this because I didn’t wait for you as your fated mate.”
The pack gasped in shock, but Markus remained unflinching, ignoring her comment. “Luna Alena, please tell the truth of that day,” he demanded.
Alena repeated the story, detailing how she saw and heard her sister plotting with the rogues and
sleeping with them. When Markus called Danielle, she echoed Alena’s account, her voice steady but her eyes betraying a flicker of fear.
Markus’s smile was cold and calculating as he addressed them. “I need to remind everyone that lying to the King is a serious offense with severe repercussions.” His words hung in the air, heavy with menace, but both women stood silent after his comment.
“Very well,” Markus said, his voice taking on a steely edge. “In this case, as you are still maintaining
your stories, let’s do this again.” He stood up to his full height, his presence radiating power. “I

command you to tell the truth of what happened on that day,” he said, using his Alpha command, to everyone’s shock.
