Beta’s Issues-2

Kaia chuckled, though her voice still wavered with emotion. “You already are.”

As Azriel and Lora reached the helicopter on the helipad, they were greeted by an unexpected sight: James, their Beta, stood there, slouched with a long, sullen face. His usual confidence was gone, replaced by an air of frustration and sadness. Lora exchanged a quick, suggestive glance with Azriel, both sensing that something was deeply wrong.

“Spill it,” Azriel said, his tone short but not unkind, getting straight to the point. He was never one for beating around the bush, especially when it came to his inner circle.

James shifted, clearly annoyed but unwilling to speak at first. His jaw clenched, and he shook his head in frustration, staring off toward the horizon like he wanted to be anywhere but here. Lora, sensing the emotional wall James was trying to put up, stepped in with her own gentle but firm approach.

“James, you’re not just our Beta. You’re our friend. You’re part of our family. Talk to us,” she urged, her voice soft but resolute. She stepped closer, her eyes filled with genuine concern.

James’s shoulders slumped, and for a moment, he seemed to deflate under the weight of his own emotions. He glanced at Lora and then Azriel, hesitating, before finally letting out a long sigh. “It’s my mate,” he said, his voice low and conflicted.

Lora raised an eyebrow, glancing around the helipad as she asked, “Where is she?”

James scratched his head, his expression a mix of frustration and defeat, before replying grimly, “She’s not coming.”

Lora’s eyes narrowed in confusion. “What do you mean, ‘she’s not coming?” she asked, her tone filled with concern. “Is something wrong? You already fought?”

James swallowed hard, his face tightening as he explained. “She’s not coming to Stormheart pack. She… she even refused to mark me or let me mark her.” His voice cracked slightly at the end, betraying the deep hurt he was feeling.

Lora’s eyes widened with shock, and she exchanged another glance with Azriel, this one more serious.

“Refused to mark you?” she echoed, as if trying to make sense of it. “Why? What happened between you

two? The last time we saw you both, you were thrilled to have found your fated mate.”

James exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “It was all a dream come true at

first,” he admitted, his voice filled with a mix of longing and disappointment. “When I found her, she was
