Kaia barely slept after Markus left her. Her mind was a whirlwind of emotions, oscillating between

the joy of their evening together and the haunting memories of her past. She felt like a teenager again, back when she would spy on the pack’s warriors, imagining who her mate might be and

creating romantic scenarios in her head. But those carefree days were long gone, replaced by a

reality full of pain and suffering.

As she sat in her bed, Kaia’s cheerful smile faded, replaced by a worried frown. She remembered the torture, the r**e, the rejection, each memory a sharp dagger to her heart. Fear began to creep

in, tightening its grip on her. Sierra, her wolf, tried to comfort her, reminding her that those dark days were behind them.

“This is in the past, Kaia,” Sierra whispered in her mind. “You need to let it go. You promised me that

you would try.”

Kaia sighed, her voice tinged with sadness. “I know my promise. But, we need to be realistic, Sierra. Markus is the King, the most wanted bachelor in the realm. And I… I am who I am.”

“Have faith and trust him,” Sierra urged. “Markus is not the type of man who makes empty promises. And Stinger would never lie like that.”

Kaia nodded, but doubt still lingered in her heart. The night passed in a blur, and when the morning came, she was still lost in her thoughts. A knock on the door brought her back to the present. One of the nurses entered, carrying a few bags with items for her to change into.

“Lady Kaia, your brother has arrived, and you are expected to join him for breakfast, along with the royal family,” the nurse announced.

She was happy that she would see Azriel, but Kaia felt a surge of anxiety at the thought of meeting not just Markus, but the entire royal family. She nodded and began to prepare herself, opening the bags to find a beautiful red dress. But when she put it on, she realized it was very revealing around the chest area, making her feel extremely uncomfortable. The style was completely different from the elegant dress she had worn the previous night. Plus, she felt that it was a number smaller than her usual size. It was still fitting her, just that it was extremely tight. She frowned at her reflection,

feeling vulgar and exposed, especially with her D-sized chest.

“What the hell was Markus thinking, sending me something like this?” she muttered to herself,

confused.

The nurse knocked again, asking if she was ready. Torn between her decisions, Kaia made her way

to the door but stopped when she touched the doorknob.

“I need 5 more minutes, please,” she told the nurse and sprinted back to the bed, quickly removing the troubling dress. She re-dressed in the sage dress from the night before. It might have been a bit too formal for breakfast, but it was far better than appearing too revealing.

Taking a deep breath, Kaia opened the door and stepped out. The nurse gave her a conflicted look, but she didn’t say anything, and they made their way to the dining hall. With each step, Kaia’s heart pounded harder. She was about to face Markus again, along with his parents this time. The anticipation and anxiety boiled within her, making her palms sweat.

As they approached the dining hall, Kaia could hear the murmur of voices and the clinking of cutlery. She paused at the entrance, gathering her courage. When the door opened, all eyes turned towards her. She felt a wave of panic but took a deep breath and stepped inside.

As Kaia entered the room, she greeted everyone with a small, polite nod. Her eyes immediately found her brother, Azriel, who rushed towards her and enveloped her in a warm hug.

“Kaia, you made us so worried. I am so happy to see you okay,” Azriel said, his voice filled with relief

and affection.

Kaia returned his embrace warmly. “I’m happy to see you too, Azriel.”

Behind him stood Lora, her brother’s beautiful mate. Once Kaia released Azriel, she smiled at Lora, who hugged her warmly but with a gentle touch.
