Threats-1
After Tim’s departure, Dana closed the door, her expression remaining stoic. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself, but almost immediately, another knock resounded through the door. Annoyance flickered across her face as she opened it to find two vampiresses, Vica and
Ileana, standing there with inquisitive looks.
I
“Yes, how can I help you?” Dana asked in a composed, neutral tone.
Vica smiled sweetly, a smile that did not reach her eyes. “Ileana and I came to see how you are doing, especially now that a rumor has arisen that you found your mate.”
Dana’s face remained unmoved. “And?”
Vica’s sweet demeanor vanished, replaced by a threatening glare. She stepped closer to Dana, her eyes narrowing. “Don’t forget to whom you belong and what happens to those who dare defy us.”
Dana held her ground, her voice steady. “Vica, if there’s anything more, I need to go. Don’t forget that I am on active duty at the moment.”
She attempted to close the door, but Vica stopped it with her foot. “Dana, be careful! Your duty should only be to my brother. Without him, you are nothing, just trash! Don’t think I didn’t notice that dog who just visited you. Yours and his luck is that you put him in his place; at least you got some common sense left in that useless head. I honestly have no idea what my brother sees in you to keep you as his pet.”
“Good night, Vica,” Dana replied, her face still neutral as she finally managed to close and lock the
door.
Once inside, Dana made her way to the restroom. She undressed slowly, her movements
mechanical, and stepped into the shower. The hot water cascaded over her, but it did little to wash away the turmoil inside her. After a few moments, she closed her eyes, and hot tears began to flow freely down her cheeks. She covered her mouth with one hand to stifle her sobs, the other hand massaging her painful chest.
The weight of her predicament pressed down on her. Her life as a top warrior had been built only on a desire to escape the clutches of her tormentor and master, the mighty Lord Stephan. Yet, in the face of her mate bond with Delta Tim, she felt her carefully constructed walls crumbling. She was torn between fear and desire. Only the Gods knew that she was terrified to the core; one wrong move and her mate would end up dead or vanish without trace.
As the water continued to pour over her, Dana’s thoughts raced. The threat from Vica lingered in her mind. She knew very well after years and years of torture the consequences of defying the

The water mingled with her tears, a silent witness to her inner turmoil. In that moment, Dana felt
truly alone, trapped. She shook her head, trying to chase away the painful memories and
recompose herself.
Dana knew that finding one’s beloved was a rare and cherished event among vampires, almost a divine blessing. However, to her, this bond felt more like a curse, a cruel twist of fate given her past. She leaned against the shower wall, the water mingling with her tears, and let her thoughts drift, just for a fleeting moment.
All she wanted was to wrap her arms around Tim and hold him tightly, to inhale his intoxicating scent, to feel the warmth of his presence. The bond pulled at her relentlessly, whispering promises of love and connection. But she knew she could never allow herself that luxury. Her fate had been sealed long before she ever met Tim.
Her thoughts turned to Stephan, the psychopathic vampire whose influence loomed over her life. She knew that if she succumbed to the bond, if she allowed herself to love Tim openly, Stephan would not hesitate to kill him. The blood of her mate would be on her hands, a consequence she
couldn’t bear to face.
