Upon reaching the hospital, Azriel and Lora headed straight to the isolation area. There, they identify four infected werewolves, their symptoms mirroring those they had seen in the vampires. The process of healing took considerable effort, but Lora and Azriel worked seamlessly together.
Once the werewolves were healed, instead of leaving, Lora pulled out her mobile phone and began recording individual interviews with each of them. She asked detailed questions about when they first noticed their symptoms, who they were with, where they had been, and their activities in the week leading up to their illness. Azriel watched her with curiosity but didn’t interrupt, understanding that Lora had a reason for her meticulous approach.
After the interview, they exited the isolation area to find Alpha Darius waiting anxiously. When Azriel informed him that everyone was healed, Darius’s voice trembled with emotion. “Thank you,” he said, bowing deeply in front of the Goddess Gift. “Thank you so much. The biggest feast will happen tonight in celebration.”
Azriel smiled and clasped Darius’s shoulder. “There’s no need for a feast, Darius. We’re just doing
our duty.”
Darius, however, was adamant. “This is my pack, Azriel, and we celebrate our victories. It’s my rule. “He winked at Azriel, then turned to hug the newly healed werewolves with unrestrained
enthusiasm.
Later, in their room, Lora wearily removed her clothes, exhaustion obvious in her movements. Azriel, leaning against the door frame, asked, “Why did you record those conversations?”
Lora glanced at him, a faint smile on her lips. “I learned this from one of my old professors at the university. He always said that the devil is in the details. Often, the root cause of an issue is something noticed by the sick individual but dismissed as ordinary.”
Azriel nodded thoughtfully. “And how do you know where the root cause is here?”
Lora sighed, sitting down on the bed. “I don’t know yet. But after multiple interviews with different packs and covens, I hope to see a pattern or common behavior.”
Impressed, Azriel approached her and gently kissed her forehead. “I am the luckiest wolf alive to have a mate who is both a beauty and a brain. The Goddess really blessed me with you in my life.”
Lora laughed softly, leaning into his embrace. “And I’m lucky to have you, Azriel. We’ll get to the bottom of this. Together. Thank you for supporting me today.”
“Always, my dove, always.” Azriel replied as he kissed her, before their passion escalated and they ended up naked in no time and entangled in the bedsheets.

After they extinguished the fire between them, as they laid down in bed, while playing with his haif
on his chest, Lora said, “I miss Asher so much. I can’t wait for all this mess to be over soon.”
“I know, my dove, I miss him as well, but hopefully we can see him soon.” Azriel replied as he kissed
her forehead.
In the evening, Lora and Azriel came downstairs, trying to honor Alpha Darius’s words. The pack
had thrown a huge feast, and the entire pack was present. As their group arrived, they were immediately surrounded by grateful pack members, especially the families of the infected ones, who showered them with blessings and words of gratitude. The atmosphere was festive, with laughter and joy filling the air.
Initially, the werewolves eyed the four vampire warriors warily, but the vampires remained stojc and professional, standing firm in their duty. Over time, the pack members began to warm up to
them, sharing cautious smiles and eventually engaging in friendly conversations. The atmosphere grew even more lively as everyone relaxed and enjoyed the feast together.
Tim, however, sat at a table with a glass of wine, feeling more depressed than ever. He couldn’t
believe he was less than ten steps away from his mate, yet they were acting like strangers. He
watched her, noticing her straight face that betrayed no emotion while talking to a pack member.
“She is like ice … no, she is like a fucking iceberg,” he muttered to his wolf, annoyed.
“I want mate,” his beast whined back, feeling as depressed as him.
Tim took a long sip of wine before responding, “I know you want her, but it seems she made her
decision. I just never imagined we would be rejected… and by a vampire.”
Lora, noticing Tim’s state, mind-linked him. *”Are you okay?” she asked, with concern in her tone.
*”I now understand you more than ever and what you went through in your past,” he replied, his voice
heavy with sadness.
Lora’s voice was sad as she responded while looking at the beauty with the dark hair, *”No one deserves to go through this, Tim. Maybe she will change her mind.”*
Tim looked at her with a mix of frustration and despair. “You speak from experience?” he asked, then quickly apologized. *”Sorry, I didn’t mean to be a jerk.”*
*”I understand,”* Lora replied gently. *”And I believe that you are right. But I just want to see you happy, Tim. You truly deserve it. Plus, not all the cases or rejections are the same.”*
Tim nodded, his expression melancholic. “Who knows,” he said, his voice trailing off as he looked back at his mate, still feeling the sting of rejection.
As the evening continued, the festive atmosphere persisted around them. Lora and Azriel mingled

heart remained heavy, his thoughts consumed by the icy indifference of his mate. He took another

Thank you for all your support and #vote #. Your kind comments mean the world to me. I know that I can be quite strong in some chapters describing emotions or actions, but this is how I see this story running its course. Maybe some could say that is too much abuse, or suffering, but each chapter has its place and as an author, describing these emotions or past history of my characters/it helps understand why some of them react the way they do. In the past years, while reading books, what I hated the most was the lack of explanation or emotion, but this is just my humble POV. Some stories that I write are more light, while some are more complex. I just hope that you will stick with me till the end to see how the story unfolds. Thank you for your dedication and enjoy.Elle
