Back Home-2
“Welcome home, Tim,” Mary said, her voice filled with affection as she embraced him tightly.
Tim hugged her back, savoring the familiar comfort. “It’s good to be home, Aunt Mary.”
As they pulled apart, Tim noticed Dana standing nearby, her gaze fixed on him. He could feel her eyes on him. He chose to ignore her. During the first week of their mission, he had tried multiple times to approach her, to bridge the gap between them, but she had treated him like the plague. Each cold shoulder and dismissive glance had cut deeper than the last. The painful ache in his
chest became a permanent companion.
With bitterness, he realized that she had already made a decision for both of them. There was no point in trying to change her mind if she refused to even speak with him. As much as it pained him,
he had to accept it.
Mary, sensing something was off, looked at him with concern. “Are you okay, Tim?”
Tim forced a smile, trying to hide the turmoil inside. “I’m just happy to be home,” he replied.
Mary nodded, though her eyes remained skeptical. She knew Tim well enough to sense when something was wrong but decided to let it go for now. “If you need to talk, you know I’m here,” she offered gently.
“Thanks, Aunt Mary,” Tim said, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze.
The surrounding atmosphere was a mix of relief and curiosity as everyone eyed the four vampire warriors who stood like statues. Their presence was a stark reminder of the alliance and the mission at hand. Azriel stepped forward to address the gathered pack members.
“Everyone, these are the official representatives of the vampire coven,” Azriel announced, gesturing
to the vampires. “They have been instrumental in making this mission possible and ensuring the safety and healing of our kind.”
The pack members nodded in acknowledgment, though their curiosity was still palpable. The
vampires, stoic and unmoved, returned the nods with equal formality.
Azriel then directed the vampires to their designated rooms for rest. “Please make yourselves comfortable. You’ve all earned it,” he said with a respectful bow.
The vampires inclined their heads slightly before following an omega to their quarters. As they departed, the tension in the air seemed to ease slightly, replaced by a sense of cautious optimism.
Tim lingered for a moment, watching the interactions and feeling a pang of loneliness despite being surrounded by his pack. He caught a fleeting glance of Dana one last time before heading to

his room. The look in her eyes was unreadable, and he couldn’t help but wonder if there was stiff a chance for them. But for now, he had to focus on the mission and the brief respite they had at home.
As night fell, the pack members settled into their routines, cherishing the moments with their families. Tim lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, thoughts of Dana and the future swirling in his mind. Despite the heartache, he knew he had to stay strong.
The next day, Tim rose early, ready to conduct the morning training session for the pack. As he made his way to the training grounds, he was surprised to see the four vampire warriors already present, standing off to the side with their usual stoic expressions. He nodded in
acknowledgment, and they returned the gesture silently.
Tim began the session with warm-ups, then moved into more intense drills and sparring matches The pack members gave their all, driven by the recent threats and the desire to be prepared for anything. Throughout the training, Tim couldn’t help but steal glances at Dana, who was also participating with fierce determination. Despite the icy distance between them, he could feel the bond tugging at his heart.
After an intense session, the pack members dispersed, some heading for the showers, others
grabbing water bottles and towels. Tim wiped the sweat from his brow, taking a moment to catch
his breath.
“Hey, Tim,” a sultry voice called out.
He turned to see Carla, one of the she-wolves who had made no secret of her interest in him. She
sauntered over, her eyes gleaming with mischief. Tim had a golden rule: never sleep with someone
from the pack. It was his way of avoiding unnecessary complications and maintaining professionalism. Carla, however, seemed determined to test his resolve.
“Great session today,” she said, brushing a hand through her hair in a flirtatious manner. “You really
know how to push us to our limits.”
Tim smiled, amused by her efforts. “Thanks, Carla. Everyone did great.”
Carla stepped closer, lowering her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “You know, I’ve been
thinking… Maybe we could spend some time together. You and me. To practice some of the… moves. What do you say?”
Tim chuckled, shaking his head slightly. “You know the rules, Carla. I don’t mix business with
pleasure.”
She pouted, but there was a playful glint in her eyes. “Oh, come on, Tim. Rules are meant to be
broken.”

He gave her a gentle, but firm smile. “Not this one. But I appreciate the offer.”

As he spoke, Tim could feel Dana’s eyes drilling into him from across the training grounds. It gave him a strange sense of satisfaction, knowing she was watching. It meant she wasn’t completely indifferent to their bond, despite her cold exterior.
“Fine,” Carla huffed, rolling her eyes playfully as she touched his chest with the tips of her fingers. “But if you ever change your mind…”
“I’ll let you know,” Tim said, still smiling.
Carla finally walked away, leaving Tim to gather his thoughts. He glanced over at Dana, who quickly, looked away, leaving like an angry storm.
“What a hypocrite,” Tim told his wolf. “She ignores and rejects us, but in the end she is acting like the hurt one.”
His wolf just huffed annoyed, as he curled in a corner of his mind, and sad, “I want mate.”
Tim closed his eyes, taking a long break, before replying, “You know I feel the same way, but you will need to start to accept the idea that we will need to reject each other. It can’t go on like this forever.
Heartbreak is killing us, and you know it. I already feel weaker, and we can’t afford this. Not when so
many people are counting on us.”
