Layzal’s Gift-1

Their entire delegation was confined to their rooms until Prince Layza arrived. The tension was palpable, and the atmosphere was thick with worry and fear. Once they had the privacy they desperately needed, Azriel immediately made his way towards Lora, but she stepped back, avoiding his touch, still trembling in shock and fear.

Azriel’s heart ached seeing her like this. “What is the matter, my dove?” he asked gently.

Lora’s eyes were wide, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m scared, Azriel. I’m scared I might hurt you as well.”

Azriel’s brow furrowed with concern, but he insisted softly, “Please, Lora, try to calm down and explain to me, step by step, what actually happened in that room.”

Lora took a deep breath, her hands shaking, and began recounting the events. She described the sudden surge of power she felt, the red haze, the uncontrollable energy that erupted from her, and the devastating aftermath. As she spoke, Azriel listened intently, his mind racing to understand the implications.

When she finished, Azriel fell into deep thought. After a moment, he looked at her with determination. “The important thing is that you are OK. We should contact Markus to give him a heads-up about the situation and see what he has to say.”

Lora nodded, her eyes still filled with fear, but she trusted Azriel. He connected the call, and after a few rings, a tired Markus appeared on the screen, a frown etched deeply on his face.

“Explain yourselves,” Markus demanded in a commanding tone. “I’ve received concerning news from Layzal that you are accused of murder and that Vica is asking for your heads to the Vampire King directly.”

Azriel took a deep breath and recounted the exact facts of the incident. He detailed Lora’s sudden surge of power and the resulting chaos, emphasizing that it was an uncontrollable reaction, not an intentional act.

Markus fell into his thoughts for a moment before asking, “How is Lora?”

“She’s shaken up,” Azriel replied, his voice heavy with worry.

“Understandable,” Markus said, nodding. “I’ve never heard of anything like this before. It seems her abilities are growing. This is concerning. I’ll see if Kaia or I can find anything related to the Goddess Gift and this new development in the royal library.”

Azriel agreed, saying, “We need to understand what’s happening to her. We can’t afford any more

surprises.”

Markus nodded. “I’ll let you know as soon as I find anything. As for the accusations… I’ll brief Layza and ask for his support. We need to ensure your safety until we can clear this up, especially now at this critical moment.”

“Thank you, Markus. As I mentioned earlier, our story is that Stephan hid from the rest that he was infected and succumbed to the disease,” Azriel said, feeling a glimmer of hope.

As the call ended, Azriel turned back to Lora. “We’ll get through this, my love. We’ll find answers

Lora nodded, but the fear in her eyes remained.

A frantic mind link from Tim shattered the tense silence that filled the room where Azriel and Lora

were confined. “What is happening?!” Tim’s voice echoed in their minds. “We’ve been locked in our

rooms since we arrived! This is one of the worst greetings we’ve ever experienced. Something is definitely wrong with this coven.”

Azriel’s expression hardened as he responded through the mind link, “Tim, there’s been an incident.

Lora’s powers surged uncontrollably, and someone was killed. The vampires are accusing us of

murder. Stay calm and do not do anything rash. I know that you need to know more but, trust me,

the less you know now, the better. Our safety depends on having our stories straight and

presenting a united front.”

Tim’s fury was palpable even through the mind link. His beast roared within him, demanding

action, but Azriel’s alpha command silenced any impulsive thoughts. “Understood,” Tim replied, albeit reluctantly. “But this coven is nothing like the others we’ve dealt with.”

After what felt like an eternity, vampires arrived to escort the entire delegation to a large meeting

room. The air was thick with hostility as dozens of vampires glared at them. In the middle of the

room stood Vica, her eyes burning with rage, and next to her was Prince Layza, a commanding

presence.
