Luna Responsibilities-2

Lora smiled back politely, her demeanor unwavering. “Do not worry, Your Highness. Despite my lack of formal training in protocol, I am fortunate to have specialized help in this regard. While I focus on other important aspects, like my medical duties, I leave the event management to the professionals.”

The Queen and her ladies exchanged ironic smiles. “Oh, my dear,” Alice Carter suddenly replied, her tone condescending, “but you are the Luna. How could you delegate such tasks to others, specialists or not? This is unheard of. What is so important that you disregard one of your main

tasks as a Luna?”

Lora felt her blood boil, but she kept her composure. It seemed the queen and her minions went

for blood, but Lora refused to tolerate disrespect, regardless of who was standing before her. She was Luna Storm, and allowing any form of disrespect would mean disrespecting her pack and her

mate.

Smiling sweetly, she replied with a firm voice, “Queen Tonya, Lady Alice, I see your point of view,

but you seem to overlook something. While an ordinary Luna would be trained in protocol and

event management, I completed medical school. I am a trained doctor. What matters most to me

is saving lives. The rest comes second. As Luna Storm, neither my pack members nor my mate are

disturbed by my activities. On the contrary, they support my work. Why burden myself with event

management when I can leave it to the professionals and do something truly meaningful? Of

course, this is only my opinion, and each Luna has her own way of doing things.”

Silence fell over the room. The queen’s composed facade showed cracks, her eyes narrowing with

irritation. Alice Carter, unable to contain her arrogance, snapped at Lora, “So you’re saying what

you’re doing is more important than generations of traditions and supporting your Alpha?”

Lora met Alice’s gaze, unflinching. “Lady Alice, as long as my mate is not disturbed by it, I don’t see

what the issue is. Each pack and Luna work together to bring the most benefits to their pack. In

my case, it’s healing and using my Goddess-given skills.”

Alice scoffed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “That sounds like just an excuse to avoid your Luna

duties.”

Lora’s next words cut through the tension, shutting everyone’s mouths. “Then maybe I should have followed your wise advice and stayed home to organize some calls or gathering while the pandemic was purging the wolves and affecting all the packs. Perhaps I should have reviewed my priorities and avoided helping anyone until my last event was scheduled to perfection and my wardrobe updated.”

“What do you mean?” Alice asked, her tone turning hostile.

Before Lora could respond, Kaia interjected with an ironic tone, “Oh, Lady Alice, you weren’t aware. Lora here is the Goddess Gift who healed hundreds of infected in all the packs.”

The room fell silent, the shock palpable. Alice’s eyes widened in disbelief, and Queen Tonya’s face

turned a shade paler. Her grip tightened on the teacup, her knuckles white with anger. Lora could

see the fury simmering beneath the queen’s composed exterior.

“These pests,” Tonya hissed silently in her mind, barely holding back her temper.

The ladies of the court exchanged uneasy glances, the air heavy with unspoken words. The

queen’s façade was crumbling, and Lora felt a surge of triumph. She had stood her ground, and the Queen’s attempts to belittle her had backfired.

Alice Carter, still seething, tried to regain her composure. “You may be a gifted healer, but you

must understand that being Luna comes with responsibilities.”

Lora’s eyes flashed with defiance. “And I take those responsibilities seriously, but I also know where my strengths lie. I am not just a Luna; I am a healer, a doctor. My duty to my pack goes beyond protocol and events. My mate and my pack support my choices, and that is what matters.”

Queen Tonya’s lips thinned into a tight

line, her eyes burning with anger. “Very well, Luna Storm. Let us see how you manage these responsibilities. I expect you to uphold the traditions and duties of a Luna, regardless of your… unique talents.”

Lora met the Queen’s gaze, her expression calm but firm. “I will, Your Majesty. But I will also

continue to use my skills to benefit my pack and those in need. My path may be different, but it is

one of purpose and service.”

As the tea ended, the tension in the room was palpable. Queen Tonya, her composure restored but

her eyes flashing with anger, dismissed them with a curt nod. “I must bid farewell to everyone now

due to a prior commitment already scheduled. But it was a pleasure to meet you all today.”

With these last words, Queen Tonya left the room, followed shortly by her inner circle.

Lora and Kaia left the room as well, their steps echoing with determination.

After they left the room, both Kaia and Lora felt as if a weight had been lifted off their shoulders.

Lora glanced at Kaia with a questioning look, but Kaia signaled her to wait. Once they were inside

Kaia’s chambers, Lora let out a long breath, disbelief evident on her face.

“What the hell just happened?” Lora asked, shaking her head. “Is it always like this? I feel the need to take a shower from all the dirty looks I got.”

Kaia laughed, a sound filled with both amusement and frustration. “More or less, it’s always like

this when it’s just them. But you’d be surprised to see how sweet and nice they are when Markus br

the former King are around. What hypocrites.”

“We need to do something about it. You can’t live like this, Kaia. It will drain you day by day.” Lora

said, her concern for her friend clear.

Kaia nodded pensively. “I know. Trust me, I’m working on a plan to deal with them once and for all. But for now, I’m biding my time. The priority is to get over the current Lycan crisis and pandemic.”

Lora nodded in agreement, hugging her friend supportively. “We’ll get through this together, Kaia.

You’re not alone.”

Kaia smiled, grateful for Lora’s unwavering support. “I know, and that means everything to me.”

Lora looked around the room, taking in the luxurious surroundings. “Do you ever feel at home here?

Kaia sighed. “Despite all the support from Markus and our passionate relationship, I still don’t feel fully at home in the castle. Especially with all the pests around and Queen Tonya herself. Whoever said mother-in-laws are troublemakers wasn’t exaggerating. In front of everyone else, Queen Tonya is the perfect image of poise, grace, and proper behavior, but I can’t forget her past manipulations and how she tried to get rid of me.”

Lora listened intently as Kaia continued, “Initially, I tried to keep myself from forming an opinion and gave her the benefit of the doubt, but fate has its own way of revealing secrets. Nothing can stay hidden forever.”
