Inside Man-2
After Alice’s disastrous spending spree that nearly bankrupted the pack, Carter desperately tried
to steer her life in a different direction. His first thought had been to find her a mate, someone
strong and stable who could provide her with the security she needed and curb her self-destructive habits. He had pushed her to consider a chosen mate, urging her to accept one of the many eligible suitors from powerful packs. But Alice had always been stubborn, a trait she
inherited from her father.
Years ago, Alice had been given the chance to be with her fated mate, but she had rejected him without a second thought. The poor man had been nothing more than a “measly Beta,” as Alice had put it, and she had turned her nose up at him, demanding someone of higher status. The Beta had been heartbroken, but Alice had been unmoved, convinced that she deserved better.
Carter had watched with growing horror as his daughter turned her attention to a target that was not only out of reach but downright dangerous: Azriel Storm, the infamous Deathstrike himself. Azriel was a man feared and respected by all, a warrior whose name was whispered with both reverence and dread. But more than that, he was known for his cold, unwavering refusal to take
another mate after the tragic death of his fated one many years ago. His heart had been buried
with her, and nothing in the world could bring it back.
But Alice was undeterred. In her mind, Azriel’s refusal only made him more desirable, more of a
challenge. Carter had tried everything to dissuade her, he had reasoned with her, pleaded with her,
even shouted at her in frustration. He had told her that Azriel would never take another mate, that
she was wasting her time. But Alice had only become more obsessed, determined to be the one
who could melt the ice around Azriel’s heart.
Realizing that Alice would never let this go, Carter had resorted to desperate measures. He had
used all his influence in the Council, pulling strings and manipulating situations in an attempt to
push Azriel into considering Alice as a mate. He had hoped that if he could get Azriel to agree, Alice would finally be happy, and her downward spiral would stop.
For a moment, it had seemed like he might succeed. He had come close when he secured the
endorsement of the Council to push Azriel for a chosen mate. But then, out of nowhere, Azriel had
appeared with a mate, who had already given him a child. The news had crushed Alice, and Carter
had been forced to admit defeat.
Since that day, Alice had been inconsolable. She had spiraled further into her addictions, her shopping habit now joined by a dangerous new vice: gambling. Carter watched helplessly as his daughter gambled away what little money she had left, losing herself in the thrill of the game and the promise of easy money in a desperate attempt to get more cash and prove to her father that

she could make money. But the only thing she was winning was more debt, more trouble, and/
more heartbreak.
Carter was desperate. He had tried everything he could think of to save Alice, to pull her back from the brink. But nothing worked. And just when he thought things couldn’t get any worse, the pandemic had struck, bringing with it fear, chaos, and uncertainty.
It was during this time of darkness that Carter had first heard whispers of the Lycans. The old tales had resurfaced, stories of these ancient, powerful creatures who had once been feared above all others. Their return seemed like a bad omen, a sign that the world was on the brink of something terrible. But for Carter, it was also an opportunity.
Knowing the history between werewolves and Lycans, Carter understood that it was only a matter of time before the Lycans would attempt to seize control. They were stronger, faster, and more ruthless than even the most powerful werewolves. In a moment of weakness, driven by fear, desperation, and the need to secure his daughter’s future and his pack’s survival, Alpha Carter had reached out to the Lycans, offering his services in exchange for immediate financial support and a promise of power when they took over the packs.
The deal had been made in the shadows, hidden from the Council and his pack. The Lycans had provided the funds Carter needed to cover Alice’s mounting debts and keep the pack afloat. In return, Carter had pledged his loyalty to them, agreeing to feed them information from within and be their inside man. It was a dangerous game, but one that Carter felt he had no choice but to play.
As he sat alone in his office, the full weight of his decisions pressing down on him, Alpha Carter couldn’t help but wonder if he had made a terrible mistake. The Lycans were ruthless, and their promises of power were as thin as the air they breathed. But he had been blinded by desperation, and there was no turning back. He was at their back call. Even by some miracle he could succeed in returning their money to them, he knew that they could destroy him and his reputation in the
blink of an eye.
Now, with the Werewolf King suspicious and the Lycans growing impatient, Alpha Carter felt the
noose tightening around his neck. He had sold his soul to the enemy, and there was no turning
back, and he knew that there was no other option than to find out this inside source and push
Markus to walk into an ambush.
