Visions and Poems-1

The night was deep as Markus moved through the dimly lit corridors of the castle. His mind was

racing, exhaustion pulling at him like weights, but he pushed it aside. There was too much at stake,

too much to lose if they didn’t act swiftly. Alpha Carter’s death had been a brutal reminder of the

Lycans’ reach and cunning, and Markus would not allow another surprise, especially on his own

territory.

In the war room, a flurry of activity ensued as Markus called upon every resource at his disposa.

Messengers were dispatched, their orders clear: contact every informant, every ally, and every

network within their grasp. He needed to know how the Lycans had managed to strike so precisely,

bypassing the protections in place and executing their twisted punishment with such efficiency.

The thought that there might be more traitors lurking among them gnawed at him, driving him to push his forces harder.

Along with Azriel, they stood over maps and reports, poring over the details of Alpha Carter’s

movements, the security protocols in place, and any potential lapses that could have been

exploited.

“This was no ordinary attack,” Azriel said, his voice grim. “The precision, the timing, suggests they

had inside information. We’ve seen their abilities, but this is on a different level.”

Markus nodded, his expression darkening. “I’ve mobilized all our networks. I want to know how

they did this, and I want to know now. We can’t afford to underestimate them. If they reached so

easily to Alpha Carter, then all of us are moving targets, and it would be just a matter of time until

we become victims.”

Azriel’s eyes flickered with a dangerous glint. “If there’s a mole, we’ll root them out. But we need to

be cautious, not to tip our hand too early. Whoever is feeding the Lycans this information could be

close, closer than we think. If they succeed in turning Alpha Carter himself, definitely there might

be others as well.”

Markus sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. “We’ll investigate every lead. We can’t let this go unanswered. The packs need to see that we’re in control, that we’re still strong despite this

setback.”

Azriel nodded, his mind already ticking over with plans. “I’ll oversee the interrogations personally. No one will slip through the cracks.”

“Good,” Markus replied, his voice weary but resolute. “Keep me updated. Layzal is doing the same from the vampire side.”

Hours passed like this, the two men locked in strategy, discussing every possible angle, until the

weight of the day began to press down on Markus in full force. He finally dismissed Azriel, knowing they both needed rest to face whatever challenges the next day would bring.

It was well past midnight when Markus finally made his way to his bedroom. The castle was quiet

now, the earlier commotion giving way to the stillness of night. He pushed open the heavy door to

his chambers and stepped inside, the warmth of the room a stark contrast to the cold stone

hallways.

To his surprise, Kaia was still awake, sitting up in bed with a worried expression on her face. Her

eyes softened when she saw him, but concern lingered in their depths.

“You should be resting,” Markus said gently, walking over to her. “It’s late.”

Kaia shook her head, her gaze fixed on him. “I was worried about you. You’ve been through so

much today… We all have.”

Markus sat down beside her, taking her hand in his, the familiar comfort of her touch grounding

him. “I’m fine,” he said, though he knew she could see through the lie. He was far from fine, but

there was no room for weakness now. It was just too much on his plate right now: his mother, the

Lycans, the pandemic.

She squeezed his hand, searching his face. “If you want, I could try to use my abilities. Maybe I can help, give you some insight into what’s coming…”

Markus looked at her, a mix of gratitude and love in his eyes. “I’m so lucky to have you, Kaia. You’ve

done so much already, and I don’t want you pushing yourself too hard. Get some rest tonight, and

tomorrow, once you’re feeling better, we can give it a try. But not before. Your well-being and the baby are coming first.”
