New Friend-1
In the quiet of the clinic room, Dana and Lora remained with the little girl, the air heavy with
anticipation. The men had left, giving them a moment of privacy. Dana sat beside the small bed, her fingers gently caressing the girl’s hand with a tenderness that was new to her. The weight of
the situation pressed down on her, and after a long moment of silence, she finally spoke, her voice
trembling with emotion.
“I never believed that I would have children,” Dana confessed, her eyes fixed on the girl’s pale face.
“Everything was taken from me when I was sold: my free will, my life. But when I found Tim and was accepted into this pack, I felt like a normal person again. Even though I couldn’t have children, we accepted that and made peace with it. But now, to have this treasure in front of me… it’s/ terrifying. What if I’m not a good mother?”
Lora, who had been listening intently, offered a gentle smile. “I had Asher when I was almost 19,” she began, her voice soft but steady. “I had no stable job, no family, no money, and no wolf. I was absolutely terrified. So, trust me when I say you’re in a much better place than I was. You just need to take it one day at a time, and it will all be okay. It won’t always be easy, but it will be worth it. You and Tim deserve someone to love unconditionally.”
Dana nodded, her heart swelling with a mix of fear and hope. Lora’s words were comforting, but the reality of the responsibility still loomed large in her mind.
Their conversation was abruptly interrupted by the girl stirring in her sleep. Both women turned their attention to her as her big blue eyes fluttered open, trying to focus. The innocence in her gaze was mixed with an unmistakable fear, and Lora could see the terror brewing behind those eyes.
“Sshh… it’s okay, sweetie,” Lora said softly, trying to soothe her. “You’re safe here.”
But before they could fully register what was happening, the girl’s body tensed, and in a split second, she bolted from the bed, retreating to a corner of the room. She crouched there, shaking
uncontrollably, her eyes wide with terror.
Lora and Dana moved toward her slowly, their hands raised in a gesture of peace, but to their shock, the girl let out a piercing scream that shattered the surrounding windows. The sheer force of it sent a shock wave through the room, leaving them stunned and reeling as the glass exploded
outward.
The girl’s scream stopped as suddenly as it began, and she collapsed, unconscious once again, her small form crumpled in the corner.
Azriel, feeling the distress of his mate through their bond, burst into the room moments later. His eyes took in the scene, the shattered glass, the little girl lying unconscious, and the stunned

expressions on Lora and Dana’s faces.
“What happened here?” Azriel asked, his voice filled with concern as he looked around in disbelief.
Lora, still shaken by the incident, pointed toward the girl. “It was her,” she said quietly. “She screamed, and… the glass object around us just shattered.”
Azriel’s eyes widened as he processed what Lora was saying. He approached the girl cautiously, his heart heavy with the realization that the child they had just taken in was even more powerful, and more fragile, than they had imagined.
Dana was by his side. “What do we do now? She is terrified,” she whispered, her voice trembling
Azriel took a deep breath, his mind racing with the implications. “We are protecting her,” he said firmly. “We are figuring out how to help her control whatever this is. And most importantly, we make sure she feels safe and loved.”
Lora nodded in agreement, her healer’s instincts kicking back in. “She’s been through unimaginable trauma. She just lost her mother at such a young age,” she said softly. “It’s going to take time and patience, but we’ll get through this.”
In the days following the girl’s arrival, Lora and Dana made it a point to visit her regularly, but the progress they hoped for was painfully slow. Despite their gentle coaxing and attempts to make her feel comfortable, the little girl refused to speak, and also sleep or even stay in bed. Instead, she would curl up in one of the corners of the room, her small frame huddled in on itself, eyes wide with fear. She hadn’t spoken a single word since she arrived, and no matter how hard they tried, she wouldn’t respond to any of their questions or comforting words.
