Quiet Bond-1

Quiet Bond-1

The meeting with Markus and Kaia had been grueling. The weight of their mission pressed heavily on their shoulders, leaving them both exhausted yet resolute.

“The good news,” Azriel began, his voice hoarse from hours of discussion, “is that we’ve successfully identified the military contractor organization serving as a front for the Lycans.”

Lora nodded, her eyes tired but determined. “Yes, they’ve been operating under the guise of various government bodies and businesses for years. They’re well-funded and politically connected, making them a formidable adversary.”

Azriel sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “The bad news is, they’re deeply entrenched. They have ties to high-ranking officials, influential businessmen, and they’ve managed to stay under the radar despite their extensive operations.”

Lora’s expression darkened. “And there’s another devastating blow. We’ve lost the Dispell Poems bloodline. The little girl is the only remaining survivor, and she has no awareness of her history or how to use her abilities.”

Azriel’s jaw tightened. “We could never use a child to fight this war, no matter how powerful she might be.”

Lora reached out, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. “We’ll find a way,” she assured him softly. She leaned in, pressing a tender kiss to his forehead before burying her face in his front dress, seeking solace in his presence.

Their brief moment of respite was abruptly shattered by a panicked mind link emanating from the clinic staff. Azriel’s eyes snapped open, alarmed. “What?” he roared into the link. “What do you

mean she’s missing? Maybe she’s hiding?”

Without hesitation, both Azriel and Lora sprang to their feet, rushing out of the office towards the clinic. Upon arrival, their worst fears were confirmed. The little girl was nowhere to be found.

Azriel immediately took charge, his authoritative voice cutting through the tension, as he issued a general mind link to all pack members, describing the little blue-eyed girl with the very thin body.”

“I can’t believe it!” Azriel exclaimed, his frustration evident as Dana and Tim arrived, their faces etched with panic.

Tim quickly responded, “I asked Sky to pull out the clinic security, but it might take some time. Where could she have gone? She was so scared to leave that corner.”

Dana’s voice trembled as she asked, “Do you believe she ran away?”

Tim placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Let’s hope that’s the case rather than the other

option.”

Lora looked between them, confusion knitting her brows. “The other option?”

Azriel nodded solemnly. “Yes, the other option would be that she was taken.”

Before they could process this further, Azriel received another mind link. Mary’s urgent voice filled

his thoughts. “Can you please come to your home?”

Azriel’s mind raced. “Mary, what happened? Is Asher OK?”

Mary’s response was frantic. “I believe that the girl you are looking for is here… with Asher.”

Azriel’s heart skipped a beat. “What?”

All four of them: Lora, Azriel, Dana, and Tim, rushed toward Alpha’s house, their hearts pounding with a mix of fear and urgency. As they approached the entrance, they found Mary waiting, her

face a mixture of confusion and concern.

“Where is she?” Azriel asked frantically, his voice thick with worry. He immediately began to track his son’s scent, his senses heightened as he pushed past Mary and led the way inside.

the Mary pointed toward the living room, but before she could say anything more, group followed Azriel. They came to an abrupt halt, frozen in disbelief at the sight before them. On the floor, curled up on a soft rug, the little girl and Asher were deep asleep, hugging each other. Their faces were peaceful, the tension from earlier nowhere in sight.

Azriel turned to Mary, his voice softer now but still tinged with the remnants of his earlier panic.”

Since when are they here?”

Mary sighed softly, relieved that nothing worse had happened. “I arrived earlier to prepare a snack for him, but when I came into the living room, I found them sitting on the couch, watching cartoons. I thought she might be a new friend from school, so I asked her name, but she didn’t answer. Instead, she ran away with Asher and hid behind the couch. I thought they were just playing, so I went into the kitchen. When you sent the mind link earlier, I came to check if she was

still there, and I found them like this, deep asleep.”
