Surprise Attack-2

Alex, either too drunk or too far gone in his delusion to understand the warning, sneered. “She’s mine!” he yelled, his voice raw and filled with anger. “You can’t-”

Before Alex could finish his sentence, Lora stepped in front of Azriel, placing a hand on his chest. She knew Azriel was close to snapping, and while part of her was tempted to let him handle Alex, she also knew that nothing good would come from escalating the situation further, especially on a

public event.

“Enough, Alex,” Lora said firmly, her voice cutting through the tension. “You need to leave. Now. You’ve embarrassed yourself enough tonight, and I won’t stand here and watch you make it worse.

Alex’s expression twisted into something ugly, hurt, anger, and desperation all swirling together. For a moment, it looked like he might lash out, but then something in her words seemed to finally break through the fog of his drunkenness. His shoulders slumped, and the fight drained out of him.

“You don’t understand,” he muttered, shaking his head as if trying to clear it. “You don’t understand, I give up on you for an unfaithful woman…”

“I do understand, Alex,” Lora said, her voice softer now but no less resolute. “You made your choice. And I’ve made mine. There’s nothing left between us. It’s time for you to move on.”

For a moment, Alex just stood there, staring at her with a mix of confusion and sorrow.

Lora barely had time to register the sudden shift in Alex’s expression. His face, once filled with drunken arrogance, twisted into something dark and vicious. His voice came out cold and venomous as he declared, “If I can’t have you, then no one can!” The words hung in the air like a

terrible omen.

The heated exchange had already drawn a crowd, whispers and curious eyes surrounding them, but nothing could have prepared them, or Lora, for what happened next.

She opened her mouth to speak, to defuse the situation, but the words died in her throat when Alex, in a desperate, unhinged move, reached beneath his coat and pulled out a gleaming blade. The steel caught the light of the ballroom’s chandeliers, and before Lora had time to react, Alex lunged at her.

The crowd gasped in shock, but it all seemed to happen in slow motion. Lora felt the cold bite of the blade before the pain truly registered. Alex had stabbed her, the blade sinking into her chest.

just above her heart. Her eyes widened in disbelief, her breath catching as she looked down at the

spreading crimson stain on her dress.

Surprise Attack-2

“Lora!” Azriel’s voice roared through the ballroom, filled with fury and panic. Before she could even

react, she felt the force of his body, pushing Alex aside with enough strength to send him crashing into a nearby table.

But it was too late.

The blade was already lodged in her chest. Lora’s knees buckled, her vision blurring as the world

around her swayed. She could hear the horrified gasps and murmurs from the onlookers, the

rustling of clothes as people scrambled back, but all she could focus on was the pain, the burning,

sharp pain radiating through her body.

Azriel knelt beside her in an instant, catching her before she could fall completely. His hands,

usually so sure and strong, trembled as they pressed against the wound, trying to stop the

bleeding. Blood seeped through his fingers, staining his skin, and his face twisted into an

expression of pure anguish. “No… No, no, no!” he growled, his voice breaking with the rawness of

his emotion.

Lora tried to speak, but her chest felt heavy, her breaths coming in shallow, painful gasps. She looked up at Azriel, her eyes wide with fear and confusion. “Azriel…”

Before she could say more, an eerie, maniacal laugh echoed through the ballroom. It was Alex,

now lying on the ground where Azriel had thrown him, laughing like a man who had lost his mind.

“She’s mine,” Alex wheezed, his eyes wild. “Now no one can have her!”
