My Mate-2

“I don’t care; the way we felt her that night gave us all the answers we needed.” Thunder replied.

After he took a long breath, Azriel replied to them. “She’s my mate,” Azriel said, his voice tinged with determination. “And I don’t care about her past. Now, tell me, where is my mate!”

Mary and Tim exchanged a knowing glance, before Mary replied to him, “She is working at the public hospital as an emergency doctor, and she will finish her shift in approximately half an hour

Azriel’s heartbeat was hard and, with a last look at Tim and Mary, he made his way towards the hospital. As Azriel watched Lora exit the hospital doors, his heart seemed to break his chest, the

mate bond snapping into place with a force that left him reeling. At that moment, all his rage and unrest dissipated, replaced by an overwhelming sense of clarity and purpose.

He could see the tension in Lora’s posture, the way she seemed to shrink in on herself, and he

caught the faint scent of fear wafting from her, mingling with her natural lilac scent, when she

noticed his presence. It disturbed him greatly to see her in such a state, but it also provided him with a new perspective, a deeper understanding of her actions and reactions since the night they

had met.

After they greeted each other, Azriel asked her, “Can we talk?”

She looked at him in panic, as she replied, “I don’t think that this is a good idea.”

As she tried to decline his request to talk, Azriel fixed her with a determined gaze and spoke in a

tone that brooked no argument. “I insist,” he said firmly, his voice carrying the weight of his resolve.

Lora hesitated, uncertainty flickering in her eyes, but ultimately, she nodded, acquiescing to his

request. Azriel felt a surge of relief wash over him as he gestured towards a nearby bench, silently

urging her to join him.

Once they were seated, a heavy silence hung between them, punctuated only by the soft sounds of

the evening settling around them. Azriel took a moment to collect his thoughts before speaking,

his voice gentle yet firm.

“Lora,” he began, his gaze never wavering from hers, “there are things we need to discuss. Things that cannot wait any longer.”

Lora’s expression flickered with a mix of fear and curiosity as she regarded him, her features bathed in the soft glow of the fading sunlight. She nodded slightly, silently urging him to continue.

“I know you have questions,” Azriel continued, his voice steady. “And I understand that you may be afraid. But I need you to trust me, to believe that I have your best interests at heart.”

Azriel took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come. “Lora,” he said softly, “I need you to know… I need you to understand that you are not alone, and you never will be.”

She looked at him confused, as she said, “Look, Azriel, it was nice meeting you, but it was just a one-night stand,” she replied as she lifted herself from the bench ready to go, but his next words stopped her in her track.

“Mary told me your story” he told her.

She turned toward him with panic in her eyes, “What do you mean?” replying with a trembling voice.

“I know that you were one of us, about the frame-up, your rejection, your banishment.” he said.

She swallowed before replying, “Then you know that was never my intention to cross your path of to offend you. I know who you are,… Deathstrike. I know what you do to those like me. The only thing I am asking is to allow me to continue my life as a human. I am not a threat to anyone and I live in human territory.”

Azriel fixed her with a deep look, before replying, “I am afraid that this is not possible anymore.”

Lora’s breath stopped as panic hit her and her eyes filled with tears, “Why not? I promise that I will never step foot in anyone’s territory. Please, show me mercy.”

Little did she know that his next words would totally change her life.

“Because you are my mate and your place is next to me, my dove” Azriel replied with a possessive look on his face.
