After he left Mary’s cottage, with each kilometer that he drove he started to become more and more agitated. Thunder was becoming feral, pressing him to return and take their mate with them to the pack.
For a few moments he was inclined to do it, but he tried to reign himself and not scare her. But one thing was for sure, tomorrow he would bring her into the pack territory, objections or not. He promised that he would be patient, but he just realized that he couldn’t take it.
What surprised him was how the mate bond snapped in place almost instantly between them, despite her not having a wolf. After Avril, he never believed that he could feel so strongly again, but it seems that the Goddess had other plans.
Once he arrived back, he was greeted by his Gamma, Sky, who was left as an interim to look over
the pack while himself, Tim and James were searching for Lora.
Looking at Sky’s tense face, he realized immediately that something was not OK, as he tensed for his report. He was gone just for half a day.
“Hi Sky, how are you? I hope all is in order?” Azriel greeted him with a direct approach, as per his
usual style.
“More or less, Alpha. We had an unexpected guest who refused to leave the pack premises until
she spoke to you. Actually, I am not sure if speaking is the right word, as she came with a mountain
of luggage after her, like she is ready to move here.” Sky replied, conflicted.
“Whom we are talking about, as I was not expecting anyone,” Azriel replied, confused.
“Alice Carter. Initially, I refused to host her, especially in your absence, but she just refused to leave
and considering that she is Alpha Carter’s daughter, I could not remove her by force. It would have
caused an interpack crisis and issues with the Council for us.” Sky replied, exhausted.
Azriel’s knuckles whitened as he clenched his fists, his frustration boiling over at the news of Alice’s unwelcome arrival. The tension in the air was palpable as he faced Gamma Sky, the weight of his responsibilities pressing down on him heavily.
“Damn it,” Azriel muttered through gritted teeth, his voice laced with irritation. “I’ve made it
abundantly clear that she’s not welcome here. I told Markus to hold her back from arriving.”
Sky nodded solemnly, his expression mirroring Azriel’s frustration. “I know, Alpha. But she’s stubborn. She’s convinced that she belongs here, despite your wishes. She has already started to act like the Lady of the house and orders our omegas, dropping hints that she is the future Luna of this pack. Tell me that she is bluffing, Alpha.”

Azriel’s jaw tightened as he fought to rein in his temper. He couldn’t afford to lose control, especially now when tensions were already running high. Taking a deep breath to steady himself, hè addressed Sky with a firm tone.
“This is her fucking father’s doing, as he forced the Council’s hand to push me towards a chosen mate, and, of course, his top pick would be his precious daughter. Corrupt scumbags. Keep a close watch on her,” Azriel instructed, his voice brooking no argument. “I don’t want her causing any trouble while I’m away. Also, you know that Tim finally located my second chance/mate, but until I convince her to give me a chance and move over to the pack premises, I prefer not to share the info. Plus, now you understand that Thunder, if he meets Alice right now, would be capable of something terrific.”
Sky nodded in understanding; his gaze unwavering as he met Azriel’s intense stare. “Consider it
done, Alpha. I’ll make sure she knows her place.”
“Thanks Sky, and … don’t feel shy to offend her. Someone needs to show her to her place. One
thing I can tell you for sure: as long as I am the alpha of this pack, Alice Carter will never be my
Luna.” Azriel added with a final tone, before making his way towards his house.
Once inside, he took a fast shower and laid down in bed trying to get some rest, but he could
barely sleep, turning left and right. Flashes of his time with his mate, Lora, started to cross his
mind.
