She took a sip of water, placed the pill in her mouth, and swallowed it down. Strangely, this one tasted a bit sweet. Was she just imagining things?

Once the video was done, Mrs. Gable sent it straight to Gideon right in front of her.

"Get some rest, Lydia."

The door clicked shut. Lydia slipped back under the covers, completely crushed.

Was he really that desperate to avoid having a child with her? If Gideon found out about Gigi, would he try to secretly get rid of her?

Early the next morning, the gilded elevator doors opened outside the design department at Gray Enterprises. Serena Sterling stepped out, wearing a couture gown and flashing a radiant smile.

"Keep up, everyone. Be careful not to spill anything!"

Around the corner, Gideon, dressed in a sleek black suit, was in the middle of giving instructions to Dave Hunter when he heard the commotion and glanced over.

Walking behind Serena were three delivery drivers carrying handfuls of bags, all heading straight toward the sprawling design department.

"What's going on?" The mild look in Gideon's eyes vanished instantly.

Dave spotted the scene and quickly explained. "It's Ms. Sterling's first day of work. She's probably handing out welcome gifts to her colleagues."

"Work?" The man turned his head, his voice turning frigid. "Since when does Serena Sterling work for me?"

"Didn't you agree to find a spot for her in the design department when Harrell asked? You gave the nod yourself," Dave reminded him.

Gideon's lips twitched in utter disbelief. "The person Harrell wanted to sneak into the company was Serena?"

Inside the design department, the warm autumn sun spilled through the floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing the cubicles in light.

"Hi everyone, I'm the new designer, Serena Sterling! It's my first day, so I brought everyone boba tea. Please take care of me!" Her smile was brilliant, her tone light and bubbling with excitement.

Over a dozen designers looked up to see a stunning girl in a mint-green couture dress begin passing out drinks.
