Relieved, Summer flashed a small smile. "Mr. Gray, I hope I haven't caused you any trouble?"

Gideon shook his head and waved her off.

Summer took her documents and left. With her naturally sharp intuition, she was now completely certain that the woman was definitely not Mrs. Gray.

Serena thought that joining Gray Enterprises meant getting closer to Gideon. Little did she know, after finding countless excuses to wander out of her department, she hadn't managed to bump into him a single time all day.

The company was simply too massive.

Or perhaps, they were just completely star-crossed.

As evening approached and her shift ended, Serena marched straight up to the CEO's office. She figured it was only polite to greet the boss on her first day.

After all, the Sterling and Gray families were old family friends.

But before she could even get close, she ran into Summer walking toward her, clicking along in her heels and holding a stack of files. "Are you looking for Mr. Gray, Ms. Sterling? He went home to be with his wife. He's not working late tonight."

That slap in the face stung a little.

Serena turned to face her, refusing to back down. "Oh? You actually told him? Just as I suspected, you have a crush on him too, don't you?"

Unwilling to waste breath on someone whose brain was entirely consumed by romantic delusions, Summer simply walked toward the elevator, completely ignoring her.

Serena glared at her retreating back. "Gideon and I grew up together! He would never fall for someone like you! He likes girls with long hair!"

The elevator doors opened, and Summer stepped inside without looking back.

As Serena left the building, she pulled out her phone and dialed a number. "Find out where Gideon Gray lives. No, wait. Find out where his wife lives."

She was determined to see exactly who this wife really was.
