Having gathered everyone's ideas and opinions, Stella smoothly wrapped things up. "Meeting adjourned."
She stood up and was the first to walk out of the conference room.
Lydia followed right on her heels, matching her brisk pace straight into the private office. Stella turned around, her gaze cool. "Can I help you?"
"Why did you try to skip me earlier?" She asked point-blank, demanding an answer.
Stella didn't beat around the bush either.
"Because Serena is Mr. Gray's connection, and she clearly dislikes you. I don't want office drama disrupting my department. That's why I've already spoken to Nexus Design Studio—you won't be coming in starting tomorrow. Of course, you're welcome to leave right now if you prefer."
"So this was your call. Does Mr. Gray know about this?"
Stella looked at her flatly. "Mr. Gray doesn't need to know. I admit you're highly talented, but I trust that every designer at Nexus is talented."
Then, allowing her curiosity to peek through, she asked, "So what exactly were you doing in Mr. Gray's office yesterday?"
Lydia just smiled. She didn't answer the question. "Alright, I'll pack my things and go." It suited her perfectly; she didn't want to get dragged into this petty corporate warfare anyway.
Watching Lydia turn and walk away, and noting her refusal to give a straight answer, Stella assumed the rumors were true. Lydia really had gone to seduce the boss.
That afternoon, a massive piece of news broke, its trending status threatening to eclipse even Gideon's return.
Half the reporters in the city rushed to the airport.
Jeffrey Jenson was back!
The sunset cast a golden glow over the long convoy of luxury vehicles. The roaring excitement of the crowd clashed sharply with the imposing, silent wall of security guards.
"Make way! Make way! Everyone quiet down! Step back!"
The moment Jeffrey stepped off his private jet, camera flashes rained down on him like a torrential storm.
"It's the Fourth Jenson Scion!"
"Mr. Jenson! Welcome back!"
