Shredded Vows: The Billionaire’s Secret Heir novel Chapter 44

This entire scene was captured by the reporters lurking in the shadows. What an unexpected bonus! Was this girl his wife? Or had the real wife caught him with his mistress?

Gideon was a walking headline, so this story was guaranteed to blow up the internet!

Even after the black Bentley drove off, Lydia couldn't snap out of her daze. "..." The air itself seemed to stagnate for a moment.

The feeling of being handed a piece of candy only to be slapped in the face was utterly maddening!

Inside the departing Bentley, the woman in the tweed suit sat stiffly, completely shedding the lively, proactive demeanor she had displayed outside.

Larson pulled over halfway down the road and hit the brakes. Gideon turned his head, his voice dripping with ice. "Get out."

The girl slowly looked at him, reluctant to leave. Mustering her courage, she asked, "Mr. Gray... could we be friends? I can be very good and obedient."

"I have a wife. Why the hell would I be friends with you? Get the hell out!" Gideon snapped, visibly irritated.

The girl was terrified into a stupor. Not daring to linger a second longer, she quickly opened the door and scrambled out.

Larson restarted the car, casting frequent glances in the rearview mirror.

Gideon looked furious! His brown eyes were devoid of any warmth, and it was impossible to tell exactly who he was so angry with.

"Ah, sir, I have a few words, though I don't know if I should say them."

Gideon narrowed his eyes, his thin lips parting. "If you know I'm not going to like it, keep your mouth shut."

"..." The words died in Larson's throat, forcibly swallowed back down.

Silence blanketed the car once more.

Thinking about how Lydia had looked back there, Larson couldn't help but sigh. "When lovers part ways, the vicious words they hurl become daggers in the other person's heart. And sometimes, those daggers cut both ways."

"You clearly wanted to make time to bring your wife to look at dresses. That was a great start. You don't actually hate her as much as you pretend to. Yet, when it was time to leave, you had to put on that ridiculous show and break her heart. You don't even feel good about it yourself, so why bother?"
