Chapter 155

Her hand still pressed against her bare throat, tears still clinging to her lashes, and her expression carefully maintained. I shouldn’t have been surprised that she was coming with us; of course, she would want to watch and bask in my embarrassment and misery.
The walk to my room felt endless. But when we arrived, the guards were already waiting, just as Landon said they would be.
i
They bowed to Landon as we approached, and when their eyes met mine, I caught the flicker of sympathy there. They knew that I didn’t do anything wrong… just like Landon knew. Or at least they suspected I hadn’t done anything wrong.
More footsteps echoed behind us, faster this time.
When I turned again, my chest tightened.
Sophia was no longer alone.
My father and Diana were following closely behind her, accompanied by additional guards… one I didn’t recognize. Their expressions were colder than I had ever seen them… harsher.
They weren’t just here to search my room.
They were here to condemn.
“I should have known you would try to steal from my daughter,” Diana said coldly, her eyes cutting into me. “You’ve always been jealous of her.”
“What is the meaning of this?” Landon demanded, his brows furrowing. “We have the situation under control.”
“It doesn’t look that way,” Diana snapped. “That thief is still standing freely.”
“We brought additional men to assist,” my father added, his gaze narrowing on me. “Cecilia has always been a liar and a thief. I should have banished her from my pack years ago.”
The words struck harder than expected.
I had already accepted that my father didn’t love me. But hearing him say that still hurt.
But I didn’t let it show. I wouldn’t give him that.
Before Landon could intervene, the guards pushed past him and forced my door open. The sound echoed sharply through the hall. Landon cursed under his breath and rushed after them, trying to regain control, but it was already too late.
I followed behind them.
What I saw the moment I stepped into my room… made my chest tighten.
They were only in here for half a second, and they had already torn through everything. Drawers yanked open and dumped onto the floor. Clothes ripped from their places and thrown aside. The lamp shattered against the ground, glass scattering across the floor. The vanity was ripped apart, its contents strewn across the floor.
My room was unrecognizable.
“This isn’t necessary,” Landon snapped, trying to rein them in.
They didn’t listen, or maybe they didn’t hear him over the commotion.
“I found something!”
The words cut through the chaos.
The guard stood beside me, the drawer pulled completely out and discarded. He carefully unwrapped a piece of cloth in his

hands, his brows drawing together as he revealed what was inside.
“You are out of line,” Landon said through clenched teeth. “You will be punished for this.”
“Once we recover the necklace, the King will appreciate our efforts,” another guard replied smugly. “We will be rewarded.”
I glanced at my father. This had his influence written all over it.
“That’s my necklace!” Sophia gasped.
I turned, and everything inside of me went still.
The pendant rested in the guard’s hands.
Landon froze.
He was completely speechless… just as I was… because he knew that I didn’t step that necklace.
How did it end up in my drawer?
“What is the meaning of this?”
The voice cut cleanly through my thoughts. It was cold and controlled… unmistakable.
Leopold stepped into the room, his presence filling the space instantly, pressing down on the air until it became difficult to
breathe.
“Your majesty,” the guard began, holding up the pendant. “WE found this in your concubine’s room. It appears she did, in fact, steal it from Miss Sophia.”
