Chapter 179
Leopold’s POV
“Sire, what has gotten into you? Canceling the consort ceremony after all this time? And last minute at that…” Landon said as he watched me pace in my study.
There wasn’t anything in this study that I hadn’t destroyed. It wouldn’t be the first time they’ve had to replace everything here, and I’m sure it wouldn’t be the last time.
I turned to look at Landon, and I could see the concern in his eyes.
“I found her,” was all I managed to say.
Landon furrowed his brows.
“Found who?”
“Her… Landon. My mate,” I said through my teeth.
His eyes widened in shock.
“What? Why didn’t you tell me sooner? Who is she?”
“I don’t know,” I said, frustration evident in my tone. “I have no idea who she is. It was dark, and I wasn’t in my right frame of mind. My wolf took over.”
Landon let out a breath and stepped further into my study, shutting the door behind him.
“What do you remember exactly?”
“I marked her,” I said without hesitation. I ran my fingers through my hair for the hundredth time. “I fucking marked her.”
Landon just stared at me, his mouth hanging open. I couldn’t blame him for not knowing what to say at this moment; I barely knew what to say at this moment. I found my mate, and then forced my mark on her. Or rather, my wolf forced his mark on her. But still… she must have been terrified of me. The moment she ran off, I managed to get control back, and I was just sitting in the gardens completely naked when Landon found me.
I told him right off the bat that I needed to cancel the ceremony. He didn’t argue with me because he knew how I got. The second the ceremony ended, I went straight to my study, where I had been held up for the last several hours, trying to wrap my head around everything that had happened this evening.
I remembered the curve of her body… and her dress… it was blue… it was gorgeous. And her scent… she smelled like Cecilia. My heart thudded in my chest when I remembered sinking my teeth into her neck without a second thought or regret; her blood was sweet on my tongue, and when I pulled back, I could see her trembling out of fear.
I barely registered when she managed to get away from me, but she ran without turning back, and I was left howling at the moon like some manic monster who lost his goddamn mind.
“So, if you marked her, then you can find her,” Landon said, watching me as I continued to pace, practically burning a hole in the floor.
“It’s not that simple,” I muttered, pausing for a moment.
“Why?”
“Because one, I can’t sense my wolf… so I have no idea how to get into connection with hers,” I said, narrowing my eyes at him as if that part was obvious. “And second, she didn’t mark me back, so I don’t even think my wolf would be able to sense her.”
Landon’s face fell slightly

“You must have some idea of who she must be?”
I stared at himn, and I could see the knowing look he was giving me; it made my chest feel tight.
“She had a blue dress,” I told him, and he nodded like he already knew. “That’s all I know.”
“Like Cecilia’s dress.”
It wasn’t a question; just a statement.
“Landon… what if it’s her? What if it’s been her this whole time?”
“Then you should go to her and find out,” Landon said. “You won’t get the answers by pacing back and forth in your study, Your Majesty.”
