Cecilia’s POV

Gamma warrior guards were already grabbing me by the time Sophia had hit the ground. Blood seeped into her dress and across the floor. Her face was pale, and her eyes were fluttering shut just as she whispered my name

Leopold stood frozen, his eyes dark and boring into me.

The guard’s hands tightened around my wrists, refusing to let me go. I could feel Leopold’s Alpha aura washing over the vast space, making my knees practically buckle.

“Sire, we need to get Lady Sophia help,” Landon said, rushing to Sophia’s side.

This seemed to snap Leopold out of whatever stupor he was in. He blinked a couple of times; his eyes now focused on Sophia.

“She’s losing too much blood,” Landon continued, his voice filled with urgency.

“I’ll bring her to the hospital unit,” Leopold said, his voice gruff with an emotion I couldn’t decipher.

I tried to catch his eyes; did he truly believe that I could be heartless enough to try and kill someone? The way he was avoiding my gaze, though, answered that question.

“Your Majesty, what do we do with this one?” One of the guards who was holding onto my arm asked.

His grip on me tightened, and I winced, knowing there was going to be a bruise there by morning.

Leopold froze for a moment, just before he went down the stairs, still refusing to look at me.

“Take her to the dungeons,” he murmured before continuing on his way.

I wanted to say his name; to tell him I hadn’t done this and that he had to believe me. But the words died on my tongue because I knew it wouldn’t go over well. I had Sophia’s blood on my hands, and some witnesses saw me plunge a dagger into her stomach.

Or at least… that’s what they think they saw.

Landon glanced at me, a frown marring his lips, and disappointment clear on his expression.

“You heard the King,” he said to the guards, his tone hardening. “Take her to the dungeons.”

“Landon…” I gasped, my voice barely audible.
