The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 277

Chapter 277

Cecilia’s POV

I paced the length of my bedroom.

My mind kept drifting back to Leopold; the way he cowered in pain. How he held his head like it was about to explode and then bolted out of the hospital unit as if it were on fire.

“Look what the fuck you did!” Sophia had growled; her eyes red with anger and unshed tears. “If only you stayed away, and he wouldn’t have been so angry. Why can’t you just let me be happy, Cecilia? Why do you have to have everything??”

Her words rang in my ears even hours later.

Whispers had already made their way around the palace; my father and Diana were spending the rest of the week at the palace until after the wedding. Having another Alpha spend this much time here had caused a frenzy amongst the servants.

I, on the other hand, found that to be the perfect opportunity to do a little digging and find out more information about this heirloom my mother had left behind. Maybe even find out more about my father’s affair and how it connected to my mother’s death.

I knew there was more than what he was telling me… much more.

He might have been drunk, but there was also truth behind his words, and I was going to find out exactly what had happened.

I waited until the sun had fully set and the palace walls had quieted before I made my move. I left my room hours after dinner, letting the door click shut behind me. I made my way down the quiet halls, knowing that most were getting ready for bed. The halls were dimmed from the low candlelight that flickered against the walls, highlighting my shadow as I moved.

My footsteps were careful and measured as I walked, and my breathing was controlled. Not too loud in case anyone was lurking around the corner. As I made my way towards the guest wing, the determination inside of me became stronger.

I made my way up the stairs that took me right to that wing, my steps becoming more hurried as I grew even more certain of my plan. I walked around the corner, only to run straight into a firm chest, nearly knocking me off my

feet.

Thankfully, hands reached out to grab my arms, holding me in place before I actually fell to the ground.

“Cecilia… I was coming to see you…”

I blinked at the familiar voice, and when I looked up, my heart stopped.

Leopold.

Wait no… There was gold swirling in his eyes. It was Warren.

I looked around with a frown; this entire wing was for high-class guests. Why would he be here?

“What are you doing up here?” I asked him, my brows furrowed.

“Could ask you the same,” he said, his eyes boring into mine.

I frowned.

“I asked you first,” I told him, folding my arms across my chest. “This wing is for guests. Last I checked, you are

ota guest.”

He kept staring at me, and my cheeks burned under his scrutiny.

“Leopold was making sure the Alpha and Luna were settling in comfortably,” he murmured. “Once finished, I took control and came to search for you. But ran into you instead. Are you well?”

I swallowed, staring down at my dress.

“Yes, I’m fine,” I told him.

“I need to be going.”

I started to walk around him, but he stepped in front of me, stopping me in my tracks.

“What are you doing?” He told me. “Should be in your room.”
