Chapter 292

cilia’s POV

His words made me freeze.

“What?”

I turned to look at him; his eyes bored into me, and his face was so serious that my chest tightened at the sight He/ wanted me to leave? He was sending me back to my pack before the wedding?

As much as I wanted to leave this place, I couldn’t leave knowing that Claira was in the hospital, fighting for her life. I needed to stay until I knew for sure that she was going to be okay… then I could leave. But until then, L wasn’t going anywhere.

“I can’t leave yet,” I told him, shaking my head. “Not with Claira in the condition she’s in.”

“The concubine has the best doctors in the world taking care of her. She will be fine,” he told me, folding his arms across his chest like he’s a father scolding his young. It made me feel small and even more insignificant than I already felt. “You are leaving… there’s no question about it.”

“I don’t understand why there’s a sudden change,” I said, pressing my lips together. “You told me I was to return to my pack after the wedding. The wedding hasn’t happened.”

“Things have changed,” he said, his voice leaving no room for arguments. “I already told the gammas to be ready in an hour. You are leaving, and I’m not going to say it again.”

“You have no right to keep me from my friend!”

“I am the King; I have every right to do as I please,” he roared, his eyes flashing with anger, making me take a step back.

He’s never looked at me like that before… I couldn’t help the jab of pain I felt in my chest. Even Lora, who was now at the surface, which wasn’t a surprise considering Leopold was near us… I will never understand that; I was dejected.

He didn’t say anything else; he turned and stormed out of my room, slamming the door behind him. I stood there for a long while, staring at the closed door.

I should be happy.

This was what I wanted.

I wanted to leave here and return to my pack. I wanted to figure out what the hell happened to my mother and then start my life over again, without my father, Diana, and Sophia. But most importantly, I wanted to find my mate so I could strengthen my wolf.

Then again, maybe if I wasn’t around this palace, around my mate who clearly didn’t want to be found, Lora would strengthen on her own again. We were both fine until we came to this place; Lora was the strongest in the pack. Then, this whole mate thing happened, and now she’s retreated into the furthest part of my mind.

I placed my hands on my belly; I needed to do what I could to protect this pup… but I also really didn’t want to leave Claira while she’s in this condition.

Tears filled my eyes.

It was my fault she was even in the hospital in the first place. If I told her no… If I told her to get her own tea…

maybe she would have been fine.

wallowed the tump in my throat as I tried hard to keep the tears at bay, but it was no use. All the emotions I had been carrying these last few days were finally spilling out of me.

I was being removed from the palace like I was nothing more than a parasite.

I stared around the room, my heart almost heavy in my chest.

Was it weird that I was going to miss this place? Miss the small amount of memories I have made here. The friends that I’ve come to know… Warren.
