he’s gone, stre. Are you sure this is what you wanted?”

“I had no choice…” Leopold said, sounding defeated. “It was the only way I could think to keep her safe. I don’t believe the tea thing was an accident. Everyone in this palace knows that flower is banned from palace grounds. Nobody in the kitchen owned up to the mistake… which makes me think it was a deliberate act.”

Sophia swallowed.

“Rumors are going around the palace that you turned your back on her,” Landon told him. “You didn’t even say goodbye.”

“Maybe those rumors are for the best. It’ll keep her away from here… at least for a while. Make sure she receives payment, Landon. I’m trusting you.”

“Of course,” Landon said, his voice getting a little louder, which meant he was getting closer to the door.

Sophia hurried away before she got caught eavesdropping

Fury was boiling through her with each step that she took. Her face was red with anger and tears were welling up in her eyes.

So, that was the real reason the King sent Cecilia away. It was for her protection. Even though he’s marrying another… even though he thinks he found his mate… he was still thinking of Cecilia.

A jealous rage coursed through Sophia’s body at the thought.

Of course… it was always about Cecilia.

Leopold only knew that Cecilia was carrying his baby… he would have never let her go. Or he would go after her and be with her instead of marrying Sophia. She couldn’t let that happen; now that she knows Leopold is still hung up on her, it was time for her to eliminate the problem, once and for all.

Instead of going to the hospital unit, she went straight for the gamma unit instead. As she marched through the doors, a couple of the gammas who were off duty stared at her with wide eyes. They weren’t used to seeing her there, but there were a couple she needed to speak to, and she knew they would be there at this hour.

She didn’t bother knocking as she entered their shared room; they were brothers, and they practically worshipped the ground Sophia walked on. She made a fairly good impression on them a few days ago, and now she has them in her clutches, exactly where she wanted them.

They didn’t look too startled to see her standing there. One of them had his shirt off as he was getting dressed while the other sat on his bed, running his fingers through his hair a few too many times.

They both looked up to see her standing there, and then they looked at one another, the corner of their lips curving at the sight of her. She shut the door and stepped further into the room.

“I need a favor from you two,” she said to them, staring between their dark eyes.

“Anything for you, future queen,” one of them said, a light laugh in his tone.

“Cecilia was sent away… back to our pack. However, the King still seems to be hung up over her. There are things that Cecilia is keeping from him, and if he were to find out… he would never let her go,” she explained, folding her arms across her chest.

“What kind of things?”

“Things that I won’t disclose out loud because if word got around, I would never truly have him for myself,” Sophia said, rolling her eyes. “You boys want me to be your queen… don’t you?”

“Of course,” they both said in unison.

The corner of her lips curved.
