Chapter 294
Mird Person POV
Cecilia was finally gone; nothing was standing in Sophia’s way from marrying the King now. At first, Sophia didn’t believe the rumors that were going around the palace. That the King had turned his back on his favored concubine; but watching her actually get sent away, it brought a smile to Sophia’s face.
As the carriage took her away, she watched until it disappeared, making sure she was actually gone before spinning on her heel and walking back inside with her head held high.
Instead of going to Leopold to feign shock and ask what happened, Sophia took it upon herself to go to Cecilia’ bedroom instead. Or her former bedroom, she should say.

She noticed that Cecilia hadn’t brought any of her stuff with her… which means all those gorgeous gowns and jewelry that she’s been gifted during her stay here were still in her room, unused. Sophia and Cecilia were about the same size in clothing; she couldn’t wait to try some of those dresses on and claim them for herself.
She stepped into Cecilia’s room; the faint smell of Leopold lingered, making Sophia scowl. He must have been here far too often for her to be able to smell him.
She pushed the thought aside as she went straight for Cecilia’s closet, pulling it open. She nearly squealed at all the gorgeous dresses occupying the closet. Cecilia was a fool for not taking any of these.
Without much thought, she pulled most of them off their hangers and piled them on her arm, keeping the delicate fabrics safe during transport from one room to another. Once she had a good number of the best dresses, she hurried out of the closet and went to the jewelry box.
“Lady Sophia?”
Sophia froze at the sound of a voice in the doorway. She slowly turned only to find one of her servants standing there, watching her with curious wide eyes. She was a young girl and had barely been trained properly, but Sophia took it upon herself to bring her under her wing and teach her how to be a proper servant for the future queen.
She let out a breath, relieved that it was only her.
“Come here, child,” Sophia said, motioning for the gorgeous wooden jewelry box on the vanity. “Can you carry that? Or is it too heavy?”
The girl was small, so Sophia wasn’t sure if she could carry the weight of the box.
However, she was a determined little thing and nodded her head with a certainty that made Sophia almost proud. She went right over to the jewelry box and lifted it off the vanity, cradling it in her arms. Though it looked heavy and the girl appeared to be struggling a little, she still managed.
Sophia’s lips curved.
“Perfect. Follow me to my room,” Sophia ordered, and then the two of them hurried out of Cecilia’s room and towards Sophia’s.
The servant girl helped Sophia put her new clothes away, and Sophia even tried some on, modeling for the servant girl, who told her she was the most beautiful queen ever to exist. Sophia basked in the compliments.
After a while, Sophia decided to have a little fun with Cecilia’s absence, knowing she wasn’t able to say goodbye to any of her friends before she left. She knew her friends were in the hospital, so that’s where Sophia decided to head.
