Kour parents sound amazing.”

“They are,” she said without thought. “And that’s why I’m so nice. Because they raised me to be this kind of person. I know I play pranks and dress like a soldier most of the time, but they still love me regardless of that.

“You’re lucky to have them,” I tell her. “I wish I knew who my parents were.”

I wondered if they were looking for me… or if anybody was looking for me.

Leopold’s POV

I burst through the palace doors, stepping onto the front steps that lead to the courtyard. After spending time tracking down the cliffs, I was ready to make my move and find Cecilia.

“Sire, I just got word from the gammas. They found the imposters who kidnapped Cecilia,” Landon said as he rushed after me.

“Bring them to the dungeons,” I said without thought.

“There’s another thing,” Landon said as I sprinted down the steps, my clothes already starting to tear.

“Spit it out, Landon. I don’t have time for this. I need to shift and find Cecilia.”

There was nothing more important than finding her right now. There was no doubt in my mind that she was still alive; Warren was sure that he would be able to feel it if she were dead.

“Dr. Richards mindlinked me to tell me that Sophia is back in the hospital. Something about having a fainting spell and needing her mate to help her recover,” Landon said, his eyes searching my face.

Anger surged through me at the mention of Sophia.

“Tell Dr. Richards I’m busy and will be by later,” I murmured as I pushed through the front entrance of the palace.

“Shift,” Warren demanded. “Won’t lose control. Must find mate.”

Just as I was about to strip off the rest of my clothes and give him control, a carriage pulled in front of me, making

me pause.

The doors suddenly opened, and a tall man with age lines and greying black hair stepped out; he wore an expensive suit and carried the scent of a strong wolf.

He offered his hand to a woman who was also seated in the carriage. She took his hand and allowed him to help her to her feet. She stood a foot shorter than him, wearing a delicate dark blue dress; her dark hair sat in ringlets down her back, and across her shoulders, the corner of her lips curved when she saw me.

“King Kingsley,” the man said, offering me a gentle smile. “It’s good to meet you finally. I’ve heard many stories of your family over the years. I must say, I was surprised when we received an invite to your wedding, but I’ve been wanting to get in connection with you for some time now.”

“There’s somewhere I need to be,” I tell them. I was more wolf than man at this point.

“My apologies, allow me to introduce myself. I am Viktor Vandemere, and this is my mate and Luna, Fae.

“It’s wonderful to meet you finally,” Fae said with a soft voice, curtsying slightly.

My heart stopped in my chest at the sound of their names.

Me Vandeniere’s.

“You’re the Lycan King and Queen?”

I knew they were invited to the wedding, but I honestly didn’t think they would show up. My father had warned me about the Lycans growing up; that they aren’t ones to be messed with and it’s better if we kept our borders closed. But for the last several years, I wondered if our rivalry was ever truly justified.

I’ve been wanting to reach out to them as well, but never truly had an excuse to do so until now..

“Yes,” Viktor said, bowing his head slightly at me. “There’s so much for us to speak about, but it seems that we’ve come at a poor time.”
