The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 83

Chapter 83

Leopold’s POV

I woke up to the sound of her voice. At first, I was confused. She had never just walked to my room like this before I opened my mouth to tell her to leave, but then she called me Warren, and it clicked into place. She thought I was my wolf right now.

The way she was talking to him, the way she treated him. It was so much different than the way she talked to me and treated me. She seemed carefree and open. I’m not sure what provoked me to start asking questions about her and her home life, but I was curious. I’ve been curious about her for a while; I didn’t really want to admit it.

I’m not even entirely sure why I asked her if she wanted to be queen. I was still hoping to find my mate at this selection ceremony. Every Alpha’s daughter in the kingdom will be attending this ceremony; one of them had to be my true mate, and once I found her, hopefully I’d be able to connect with my wolf fully.

She gave me a skeptical look; her pouty bottom lip was being sucking into her mouth as she thought about what to say-a response to my question.

“I never had any desire to become a queen,” she finally said, shifting in her spot at the door. “I just wish to return home.”

With that, she turned and left my room, leaving me staring at the closed doorway with a furrow between my brows.

I was still tired from sleep, but I knew I wasn’t going to be able to fall back to sleep, at least not tonight. The sun was barely awake yet; I knew she did this on purpose, because she wanted to get Warren, not me… but she got me without realizing it. I wondered if I acted differently from my wolf. If she noticed a difference between us this morning.

I looked over at the cake she left on my nightstand, something stirring in my chest. Nobody had ever made me a birthday cake before. Landon tried once… but I snapped at him. It was the first time I’ve ever truly snapped at him, and he never tried it again. He could see the pain in my eyes when referencing my birthday, so he understood why I didn’t celebrate it.

My mother died when I was just 5 years old. I woke up to her being dead beside me; my Gamma warriors surrounded me, and they were questioning how she died. It was a mystery that remamed unsolved for all these years. A mystery I’ve been desperate to solve.

But all the roads I take end up being dead ends.

I ran my fingers through my hair; my room still smelled like Cecilia. I’m not sure why that was a thing I noticed.

These strange feelings I was having for her needed to stop before they became too much. She was an Omega… and even though I made her my favored concubine, I knew I had no future with an Omega.

My mate would be an Alpha’s daughter; not only is that the way it usually works with high-ranking Alphas, but it was also foretold by the wolf shaman.

I leaned back in my bed, letting out a deep breath.

Now that I was awake, I had no desire to fall back to sleep.

My mind kept drifting back to Cecilia’s relationship with Warren. Ever since she started to communicate between my wolf and me, I’ve been trying to connect with him on more of an emotional level. Just because I can’t hear him doesn’t mean I can’t few him. I feel his emotions, and it always surprises me how at ease he feels around her.

What about her makes him more comfortable?

That was something I wanted to find out for myself.

I got out of bed and stretched my muscles.

“Okay, wolf… let’s do this. I know you can hear me if I speak out loud. I want to observe your relationship with Cecilia,” I say out
