Chapter 43
Emily didn’t dare answer directly.
“It doesn’t matter anymore. As long as I keep everything ready and don’t leave my pads where anyone can see them, they leave me alone.”
Seriously? Periods are normal. So are pads. Why should anyone have to hide them?
Elise put her soaked clothes into the black bag and stepped out of the stall.
The underwear and skirt Emily had given her were too loose, but fortunately, Elise was wearing a brooch. She used it to pin them in place, making sure nothing would slip before she left the
restroom.
Everyone expected her to do what she had done the day before- keep her head down and let it go.
Instead, Elise walked straight to Caleb and slammed the black bag onto his desk.
Standing over him, she met his eyes.
“Let me make one thing clear. I’m on my period. I use pads. There’s nothing shameful about either one, and you don’t gettő?

humiliate me for it.”
The room fell silent.
Some people stared at her in shock. A few looked almost impressed.
With every eye on him, Caleb shifted uneasily. Then he forced a look of indignation onto his face.
“What’s your problem? I made a couple of jokes. Why are you making such a big deal out of it?”
Elise gave him a cold smile.
“That’s the funniest thing you’ve said all day.”
She pointed to the bag on his desk.
“You dumped out my bag yesterday, stepped on my pad, and poured water on my chair today. You did all of it.”
Caleb’s expression tightened.
“Do you have any proof? You can’t just accuse me of whatever you want.”
Several coworkers immediately jumped in.

“The burden of proof is on you.”
“None of us saw him do anything.”
Elise looked at them one by one.
Her anger sharpened every word, but her voice remained steady.
“I don’t work here, and I never expected you to treat me like one of your own. But this isn’t just about me. Every disgusting joke you made was aimed at every woman in this office.”
She picked up the bag.
“I’m not letting this go. Management can investigate and decide what happened.”
With that, Elise turned and headed straight for the Team One manager’s office.
Several people froze.
Was she seriously announcing her period to the entire office?
Yesterday, Elise had seemed easy to push around. Today, she was standing up to all of them.
Caleb kept his expression steady, but panic was already setting59
Chapter 43
That morning, Lynn had told him to do whatever it took to keep Joan happy. Even if he got fired, at least he would prove where his loyalties lay. Joan could always ask Landon to find him a better job.
It had sounded simple then.
Now that his job was actually on the line, Caleb wasn’t so sure.
He quickly pulled out his phone and told Joan what had happened.
Joan found a spot the security cameras didn’t cover and called
Landon.
“I just heard Elise is making a scene because someone messed with one of her pads,” she said. “Now she’s gone to complain to the Team One manager. I know she’s upset, but what if this affects your partnership with Firefly Glow? I’m worried about you.”
Landon was in the development lab with Jason, working on the
game.
His expression changed the moment he heard.
Without even grabbing his suit jacket, he strode out of the room9

ignoring Jason when he called after him.
“Jerry, bring the car around.”
Then he called Elise.
She ignored the first two calls and finally answered the third.
“I heard what happened,” Landon said, his voice unusually calm. “I’m on my way to Firefly Glow. Don’t do anything else until I get there. We can’t let this blow up.”
Elise’s voice was cold and controlled.
“Fine. So what exactly are you planning to do?”
Landon kept his tone patient.
“This doesn’t have to become a big deal. Whoever crossed the line can apologize, and we can settle it without causing trouble for anyone.”
He paused.
“You want this partnership with Firefly Glow too, don’t you?”
“You’re asking Firefly to investigate its own employees,” he continued. “Do you really think they’ll turn against an entire dypartment just to make you feel better?”

Elise went silent.
When she finally spoke, her voice was quiet.
“I don’t know whether Firefly’s management cares.”
She paused.
“But I know you don’t.”
Landon’s breath caught.
Before he could respond, Elise ended the call.
Harold had just finished his meeting when Daniel hurried over.
